My Samsung tv doesn’t seem to connect with the HDMI cable do I need to get a optical digital cable?

I am curious does the TV has HDMI port? also, did you select the correct input i.e. change from HDMI or optical or Bluetooth. You also need to select HDMI from the TV setting as well. You can get optical cable but getting the connection right is the key point.
