How To Set Up ASTRO A10 Headset Gen 2 with Xbox Series X|S

Hey people. I recently purchased the Astro A10 for my son for Xmas. We had the same issues as some of the ppl on here. However, after updating my son's new controller whilst the headset was connected to the joypad, we were still experiencing the same issues with very low sound coming from the gameplay to the headset. After reading more comments on here, I decided to open up a party chat on my own and upped the volume of the headset and now it works a treat. My son is very happy and I am too. I own a pair of Astros A10 (first gen) and A40 and they are the very best on the market..

Hi all, I just got my new A10's and I was having the same issue alot of other people are having- I wasn't getting any sound out of them and the mic wasn't working but ive found a fix for this on Xbox. Go to your settings- Volume & audio output- Audio testing & details- Headset Details- click on the three little dots at the bottom below where it says "configure"- and then the top option should say something along the lines of "Update controller". Click that and update your controller while the headset is plugged in. This should take care of your issues. Cheers!

@@lakaka6193 here’s the fix for those having issues with A10 or any wired headset. I purchased a $15 wired headset for my kids, but it didnt work. I then purchased the A10 and still having issues. Here’s how I fixed it: Settings/Devices & Connections/Accessories/ and arrow down to 3 little dots and update your controller. After the update, my A10 and any wired controller now works.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, make sure your headset chat mixer is adjusted right and volume up your headset, if not then update control with headset plugged in and do it again (I had brand new ones)

okay so this might sound dumb but if you can’t hear out of one side, it may be because you have the cord ends flipped. I thought it did not matter at first but the longer one goes in the headset and the smaller one goes to your controller

You’ll get two outlet’s, make sure you’re not using them and just the one that plugs into the mic. Some Monitor’s/TV don’t support the alternative 7.1/ETC

Ok so I had an issue with the headset not working as standard, I had to add a mixer which I had from a turtle beach headset which got the headset functioning and bringing sound through. Second speed bump I hit was, I could talk and people could hear me but I couldn’t hear them and I fixed this by switching the sound to come through both headset & tv and then just ticking the “mute audio while headset is attached” check box so nobody else had to hear.

Yeah I found I needed to add a mixer to fix the sound being low, I had one come with a turtle beach headset a few years back and it worked ok with that.

The problem i had is that i could only hear out the left side and my mic wasn’t working and then i realized the smaller part of the wire goes in the headset then the bigger gray one goes in the contriller

This sounds rly stupid, but I had a friend who had headset mic turned off. It’s under audio settings if u go to a party. Also make the mix monitoring maxed out if possible

The headset works for audio and I've sent voice messages checking the mic issue and I can hear myself in the voice message but the person I'm sending it to doesn't hear anything nobody can hear me but everything else works

If only one side is working and sound is distorted make sure both wires are completely plugged in the long end of the wire goes in the headset,if you see silver then its not in

@@sonicsgt9766 i had my audio mixer set all the way to party chat so I couldn't hear my console or game sounds only my own microphone, it's the middle bar on sound settings just put it in the middle if this is your problem and you should hear things again. Again chat mixer not volume setting
