for those having issues "detecting" their 2nd montior AND are using the hdmi port from their mother board on the 2nd monitor: Check to see if your CPU supports integrated graphics, if so load up your BIOS boot window. I use an AMD GPU with an intel CPU and i went up to the "search" feature and typed in "Display" or "Monitor" to show an option to enable multple display setting. After I did that I could finally detect my 2nd monitor and begin the process of setting it up. Hope it helps and thank you for the video

This works well for me in my normal environment, however, once I connect to a remote session I start having issues, it's either I can't use the monitors or the main monitor reduces my window size to a very tiny scale or it just defaults to only one monitor. I've tried troubleshooting but no luck and no adjustments can be made in a remote session. Any tips will be appreciated. thanks

My problem was where I couldn't use my 2nd monitor but it was connected once I did the 0:55 part and pressed apply it worked , also the small windows you might have to resize your remote desktop to fit your TV you have to open up your remote desktop with notepad and settings will pop up and mess with the size depending on your TV

I've been using 2 monitors for a couple months now, but I just unplugged them to move and now one isn't being detected. There's only one HDMI port, so it isn't being plugged in wrong, and it was working half an hour ago, so I have no idea what's going wrong now Edit: one of the HDMI ports on the PC wasn't working right and resetting the whole thing fixed it. I don’t get these settings. I have HP, I have a HDMI spitter and can see the same image on both screens but I don’t get a display or advance settings. This is all brand new computer and monitors from a week old. What do you recommend?

That doesn't tell me much. HP is a huge company with a myriad of computer models. An HDMI splitter will not help you. A splitter, by definition will take a video source and duplicates it to multiple screens. If you want to use an extended video setup, you need to plug your monitors into your computer.

Your computer needs to have more than 1 monitor port. If you are using laptop, you can only attach 1 monitor to it unless you purchase right type of docking station. If you are using Desktop model, then you likely have to buy dedicated graphics card. Most desktops that cost less than 1000$ don't come with dedicated graphics cards and only have single monitor port. If you have AIO (all in one model, which is similar to iMac in design), you can't connect any extra displays to it without external graphics accelerator, or you have to use right type of cable (just like is the case with iMacs).

I have a pc with 6 usb ports. And 2 monitors that I would like to connect to the PC. However, will it be possible to run a both screens extend if I use a VGA to USB Cable on both screens. Yes. Each monitor needs its own connection to the computer. You can buy USB to HDMI adapters or buy a graphics card that has multiple video ports.

I have everything hooked up right. Have windows 10 on a Lenovo think pad W530. I'm trying to duplicate the laptop with another monitor. When I click the multiple displays tap, there is NO!,, option for "duplicate these displays". Just extend and show 1 or 2. Does anyone know why?

That's an odd one. If you press Windows key + P, do you see the duplicate option? It should be the 2nd option.

Press Windows key + P to open the Project menu. Choose "Extend" to have 2 independent screens. You may need to change the layout settings as they show at 0:46. You should be able to adjust the resolution in display settings. However, its a bit different if your PC is running Windows 11.

No. A splitter will not help at all. A splitter is used to display the same video feed on multiple monitors or TVs. If you want to use extended mode, you have to plug in your monitors to your computer's video card.

Sorry but that's unclear. Does your computer have a dedicated graphics card in addition to the onboard graphics (motherboard/CPU graphics)? If so, its possible that the on-board graphics is disabled if you have a graphics card installed. A lot of computers do that. It may or may not be possible to enable it.

You'll probably need 3 monitors. Say you have 3 monitors. You can duplicate monitors 2&3 and keep monitor 1 as your main screen. Its kind of like a mix of both. Monitor 1 is your main monitor and 2|3 is a duplicated monitor. Whatever you put on monitor 2, also shows up on 3.
