Love Gleba, favourite planet so far, I started it the other day, and have finally conquered it after several base redesigns. Definitely a change in mindset needed, its only about throughput, and designs should never make spoilage. This is especially important because if your making spoilage, it means your freshness is low, and low freshness propagates from ingredients to their products (fruit mask from an old fruit is old fruit mash and worthless) Ironically, the problem ingredients are bioflux and nutrients, (and to a lesser extent iron/copper) because they can't be burnt. My advice to all is he following rules: a) Always harvest fruit, always process fruit, burn all extra processed fruit. (getting the infinite seeds is more useful, for landfill and infinite trees - and if you have infinite resources, your not wasting anything by burning it. Those tree planters easily keep up with demand, with each seed making x50, plus infinite power from burnt fruit) b) Only use bioflux, as a way to generate nutrients, bioflux stores well, and creates a lot of nutrients. I found a bus-like base with bioflux going both directions in a loop works best. The bus ends with furnaces, but the flux needs to go around and around until it spoils before being filtered and burned. c) Always turn all excess nutrients into infinite pentapod eggs, burn the eggs. (Later you just pick up the excess for science) Your pentapod setup should be near the burners, at the end of the bus, You can extend it by adding more flux and making more nutrients, it will easily remove all your excess nutrients and turn it into useful science. You're going to want to use nutrients primarily for this anyway, so just let the eggs burn until you need them) Following these rules you don't make much/any spoilage at all, as there is not enough time between creation and burning, and its easy to tack on other production into the process. You don't care about wastage because its infinite anyway, you don't care about using excess power because that's infinite now too. Bring recyclers from Fulgora to turn smelted copper and iron into nothing (or have large enough buffers, but would recommend recyclers) to have the infinite iron and copper, such that you never back up and kill your iron/copper bacteria. Gleba is best planet.

Gleba is an amazing planet and very interesting design challenge. My first small build was fully belt based and was a spaghetti monstrosity but it worked (for one science machine). The second attempt was no belts modular block and fully bot based. This was super effective and efficient for dealing with spoilage. I thought using only bots might make it boring and easy but it still turned out be a challenge due to the spoilage mechanic.

you also need a spoilage chest at the initial inputs. those fruits can spoil on the belt and the moment some is collecting on the belt production slows down thus more spoil until everything gets clogged...(look at your yamako line)(if inserters input the spoilage and output it on other side ignore this), you can probably have your towers read the belt amount and only harvest trees when it dips below a certain amount, that way everything gets harvested just in time as it doesnt spoil while on the trees. As you said the seeds arent naturally positive for the most part so having huge parts of the inputs spoil can lead to the whole circle dying. (Note I only landed on Gleba yesterday but thats what I have noticed so far)

Apparently the turret trick shown at between 1 and 2 minutes existed in 1.1 and earlier. It was not obtainable in game (thanks for showing how to do it in 2.0) but could be performed by modifying the JSON blueprint data in a text editor and importing it. The blueprint data that handled modules could be used to insert items into all kinds of things such as fuel, ammo, items, e.t.c. It just did not see wide spread use as by the time you unlocked construction robots to take advantage of it in base, turret drops usually lost their effectiveness and instead you used tanks or other methods of clearing nests. In 2.0 it has a lot of use and can even be used to trivialise your first small demolisher kills.
@drsupergood897828 күн бұрын
At 32 minutes. The bio chambers do not use electricity and instead use the "yum" fuel of the nutrients. Between the productivity and the speed modules, the chambers burnt more yum of nutrients than they were producing. For this reason productivity modules are likely not as good as they first seem in this use case and need a lot of high quality high tier efficiency modules and beacons to cancel out the yum power increase. Otherwise you will need a very high throughput of nutrients. This is a 1.1 mechanic that modded players encountered as entitles like the angel's blast furnaces required burnable fuel and could have modules inserted. Increasing the power usage would increase the rate fuel is burnt while efficiency does the opposite. The same logic applies to stone and steel furnaces in the base game but they do not have ways to alter their efficiency (no module slots, not affected by beacons).
@Nilaus28 күн бұрын
They use "yummy value" and that is affected by beacons just like electricity

I don't agree at all? Of course the example in the video doesn't count because it's not a real production recipe and just a way to kickstart production or get rid of some spoilage, but in all other recipes I tend to use productivity... I need to see some math but from the looks of it nutrients are very cheap and actual production increase covers the losses. Like pentapod eggs require 40 nutrients to make and they hardly burn more than ten per one cycle, so it's a net positive for sure.
@nguyendi9210 күн бұрын
@@AbsoluteHuman Nah, I tried with other modules, the rate Nutrient burn is too high. It's a problem to actually Supply the machine with that high amount of nutrient, the bots cant handle it, even turbo belt would deplete a full belt in just a few machine

There has to be some use for spoilage other than throwing it away. You can use it in the burner towers right? So I wonder how effective it is as a fuel source?
@submachinegun573728 күн бұрын
250kj, which is 1/8th of coal, but it’s used in a 250% efficiency burner tower so that’s probably decent for power especially since it’s getting rid of a waste product. Also the spoilage to nutrients recipe is probably pretty good since the spoiled value of the nutrients doesn’t affect the end product when the nutrients are used to fuel the bio chamber I think, so use spoilage nutrients to fuel bio chambers and other nutrient recipes to make stuff that requires nutrients
