I use 4 lb mono, egg sinker , bead and swivel . The leader is set up different according to what I am using . I always set my sinker up as a slide sinker so fish cant feel the weight. With the slide sinker , I always seem to get more bites . It makes a big difference . I do the pretty much the same set up for anything I fish for that I am using a sinker in the set up . The only thing that changes is the size of the fishing line .

Not the same…the idea between a sliding sinker (Carolina rig) versus your fixed leader is that the fish has a opportunity to swim away with the bait not knowing they’re hooked. A fish that bites a fixed leader will feel the weight pulling the bait either out of their mouth or will let go when there is resistance.

@@brokeboybaits , you will find if you use a sliding sinker , you usually will get more bites than a fixed sinker . If you fish in a place where you can legally use 2 poles , try rigging one up with a sliding sinker and one with a fixed sinker . You will usually see a big difference in bites on the poles . I learned that about 40 years ago .

Im not trying to say my way is better or anything but I'd like to make a few suggestions that might work better for you. As someone suggested use a sliding swivel on your mainline and put the weight on that. Turn your snap swivel around and use the clip end towards your leader. I usually use a Palomar knot to tie the the small end to the mainline. Personally i prefer using a looped knot to connect the leader. I either go with a Rapala knot or surgeons knot. Either is easy to use. That way you can prep multiple leaders and setups. All you need to do is unclip the snap swivel and put the new one on. For tying hooks, look at the Palomar knot or uni knot (not saying your knot is wrong) but I find the Palomar knot easy and fast to tie. The sliding swivel prevents the fish from feeling the weight and makes hook sets easier
