I came across your videos late one night and binge-watched 5 or 10. Your material is definitely the most useful information I’ve found on YT regarding self-publishing and formatting. Thank you. I am a subscriber and fellow author. I went from book writing to screenwriting to filmmaking and producing to TV producing and now back to writing novels. (Whew). You’ve inspired me. Thanks.

I stumbled across you channel while looking how to format my own book and I have fell in love. I'm having a dilemma about front matter and figured I'd ask you! My book is a very dark romance. It has a lot of abuse and other stuff. Should I include a disclaimer in/on my book anywhere? Should I just put "A dark romance" or something? Thank you for all the useful information on your channel!

Thank you for putting all of this together! It is extremely helpful for beginner authors like myself! I was curious, how did you put together your glossary? Question regarding, ALSO BY when you publish 2nd book do you go back to first book and add also by with title/link etc of your second book? Likewise when you have added more books to your SK series do you go back and update each existing book with new title in your also by ? Assuming this would then need a republishing of each book as an updated version/edition ? Hope this makes sense
@BethanyAtazadeh
@BethanyAtazadeh 3 жыл бұрын
I think it's personal preference. Some authors do, some don't. It's more work, but potentially it could lead to many more sales if a reader is made aware that more books exist, so I personally like to update my back matter (at least for all books within a series). And yep, you'll have to fix each version separately - the ebook version, paperback version, etc, and upload each one separately, so it does get a bit time consuming.

Dear Bethany, I inserted a png of my book title in ms word and then uploaded it on Amazon but in the launch previewer the title got shifted to the left side in (tablet and kindle) previewer and it is showing properly aligned in mobile previewer. I am not getting the problem. Do I have to stretch the book title to full size?
@MargaretPinard
@MargaretPinard 4 жыл бұрын
Ah, I've never seen all the ISBNs together. It doesn't prevent you from needing to create different versions, though, because front and back matter will be different for ebooks, right?
@BethanyAtazadeh
@BethanyAtazadeh 4 жыл бұрын
Really? I see them listed together all the time. It's just a reference, it doesn't affect uploading the book anywhere.
@MargaretPinard
@MargaretPinard 4 жыл бұрын
@@BethanyAtazadeh I actually had one caught in the uploading-and-checking- period because the ISBN was wrong--I think it was the ebook that had the paperback ISBN or something like, and I was alerted to the mistake. So I took from that I could only have one--apparently the wrong lesson to learn! :P

How do you copy write a book?
@sonyadavda4996

If the title page should always be a right-sided page, shouldn't there be a blank page before this? As I understand it, right-sided pages are always even numbered and left-sided pages are odd numbered, unless I've got this wrong? These technical details are so confusing. Great vids though, easy to follow and understand.
@BethanyAtazadeh

Glad you enjoyed! The left side next to a title page will always be the book cover :) It helps to look at a physical book, and you'll see that they actually always start on the right, because the book cover is on the left
