I had jumped the gun on this one I went out to my carb and I don't have a set screw for the front, DUH!!! You are correct and I should do my homework first before commenting. Sorry about that.

Thanks I didn’t know you could open the secondaries like that. I was having to open the primaries too far to get my idle up and flooding the engine. The secondaries weren’t open enough.

this looks like the same carb I had on my built up 1969 Corvette. I think it is a Vacuum secondary, not a Double Pumper though. The second butterfly valves don't open with the primaries, it takes a vacuum to do it I think. My car was running like crap and I had it rebuilt and it still ran rough, had a vacuum leak I could never find. I went to Advance and bought a Eddlebrock 650 with manual choke for $189 back in 1994 or so and that fixed it. I still had my old 750cfm until maybe 6 years ago. I sold it to a neighbor for $50, it was super clean. I noticed one of the phillips head screws in the bottom was slightly unscrewed, just enough to keep the Carb from sealing against the intake. I found my vacuum leak, 20 years too late.

Hiya Kevin. Watched the 4150 rebuild video from many post but yours helped the most. Question- what could have the primary sticking open? Right after the rebuild it ran great at 1000 RPM for about 10 minutes. I shut it down and when I restarted it the RPM shot up to 3400. At first I thought it was linkage but i disconnected from throttle linkage and still did 3400 on startup. It seems to be sticking at the cam (orange). If I physically pull the throttle forward it goes back to 1000 as set. Should that cam be lubricated? No vids I watched spoke of lubed cams. Thanks again for the helpful video. JohnnyK
