How to set up Merkury Smart Wi-Fi LED strip. Why is my wifi LED strip failing to connect.

These LED wifi strips from Walmart are complicated. Reading the books is useful but if you pause this video as needed.its right to the point and should explain why it's not connected to your phone. I came across a problem some may have. Make sure your wifi source is allowing all devices to connect. If it says allowed device's only you cant add LEDs. Turn it off and it should say (all devices allowed.)

I figured out the easy way! Hold the reset button for 10 seconds instead of 5. Then it will begin flashing. In the app wait until it allows you to select the slow or fast flashing option. Choose the slow option. Go to Wi-Fi settings and choose Mercury or Geeni. Then it will look for your device and connect as it should. Enjoy your led strip.

If so. You can change this. If it's a phone with 5ghz. Push the hotspot you are using find the 3 dots and go to settings or configuration depending on the device. Some where in ther you can change to a 2.4ghz. I hope you get them working.

PAY NO MIND TO THE SKY BELL STUFF just say LED when reading this.lol🤪 The 2.4 GHz has better range than a 5 GHz frequency band. It will not work on the 5GHz frequency. Many of the newer models of routers come with simultaneous 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. This is called a Dual Band Router. Separating the 2.4 GHz band from the 5 GHz band is required for SkyBell HD to perform properly. During the sync process, both your mobile device and your SkyBell HD need to connect to the 2.4 GHz signal. It is not mandatory to disable the 5GHz band completely and it is possible to separate the two bands by opening your router settings and changing the name (SSID) of each band. Then, simply connect to the WiFi name allocated to the 2.4GHz band on your phone and the SkyBell HD during the sync process. The first step is to determine what type of router you have. Find the make and model of your wireless router; this is typically found on the router itself. Logging into your router configuration page: Every router has a configuration page where the user can change and alter settings to personalize his or her wireless network for the best conditions. Every router has an IP address (internal Protocol) that can be entered into a web browser's address bar. The most common universal IP addresses are: 192.168.0.1 OR 192.196.1.1 After you entered one of those two addresses, a username and password box will show up. The default login information should be located on a sticker on the actual router. Typically, it will be : Username: admin Password: blank or admin This can vary from router-to-router, though. Visit Set Up Router for more information. Once you are within the Router Config page, you will be able to change the settings to be compatible with the SkyBell HD. RADIO MODE: B, G, B/G/N mixed or B/G mixed are compatible radio modes. N-Only is NOT compatible with the SkyBell 2.0. (NOTE: SkyBell HD is compatible with N-Only modes!) BANDWIDTH: 20 or 20/40 Mhz would be the correct settings to choose. SECURITY/PASSCODES: Should be WPA or WPA2 with a password recommended 10 characters. MAC FILTERING: Should be Disabled DNS: Primary DNS should be 8.8.8.8 After confirming these settings, you have successfully configured your router! Here is an example for how to do this on the Apple Airport Extreme router: 1. Launch the Airport Utility from your desktop. 2. Click the Airport Extreme icon and select Edit. 3. Click the Wireless tab. You'll see the name of your network in the field labeled Wireless Network Name. 4. Click the Wireless Option button. 5. Check the box labeled 5GHz network name. This will append 5GHz to the existing name or you can enter something else. 6. Now the 2.4GHz network will have the name displayed in step 3, and the 5GHz network will have the name displayed in step 5. 7. To configure the SkyBell, select the 2.4GHz name under Settings:Wi-Fi. 8. Once the SkyBell has been configured, you can return to Airport Utility and uncheck the box for the 5GHz network name if you want.

One more tip I didn't consider. If you have connection problems check your hotspot device. If there is a button switch that says allowed device only. Turn it off. You cant add any new devices if it's on. It should say all devices allowed now. 👍

No your phone only needs its hotspot on. Not the source you connect it all with

If your phone doesn't have hotspot. Then you can connect back to main source and it will work again. If you used 2 phones. Add the app to the other phone as well and it should all already be added on the new app ready to go.

Can you plug in any part of the light's. And thy work? Because you can try anything to add light's. Glue. Tape. Bobby pins. Chip bag clamps. Just about anything to hold the connections tightly

If you are good at sodering than yes. They will work just fine as long as you are sodering wires to the main strip to control them. OR have other I.R. receive to solder the cut strips too

Hold the button until the pattern changes. If no button or it fails to work. You need to reset them by plug it in and out 7 times in 10 seconds or less. Otherwise it is a wifi setup issue

So let me get this straight. I need two phones. One is my extra phone which is connected to my wifi. The other, which has the geeni app, is my everyday phone with internet and service. So I turn on my hotspot on my everyday phone and have my extra phone connect to it? Now my extra phone has internet through my everyday phone, right? Then, on my extra phone I download the Geeni app. Once downloaded, I run the app and add the light strip. That is stupid. That cannot possibly be the only way to get the light strip to work. My everyday phone, which does NOT control the Merkury light strips, has my Google Assistant, my other smart devices and automations, routines, etc. But I have to use my stupid extra phone to control the light strip? No way. That makes no sense. I'm not even going to try it. In fact, I'm going to figure out how this can be done on my everyday phone and post the results here.

@@wheelman_33_ That's not how it works. Having spent some time researching it, it can be done with one phone. You initially connect to your wi-fi. You get the light strip into manual mode at which point it will broadcast its own wi-fi signal. Connect to that signal with your ONE phone.

This video works for monster LEDs and merkury LEDs. If you have that. Make sure you use the Geeni app. From Google or Apple store. IMPORTANT the internet MUST BE 2.4ghz signal . 5ghz Will NOT work.

If you have all that in order. Use a email you can easily access. Fill out the app information.Retrieve your set up number from email

Now pick the + button on the top right of the phone screen. Pick the light strip or bulb 💡. Either will work. One will work easier sometimes. Make sure you phone location is on. And follow the app instructions. I hope this works out for you.

As long as you use a 2.4ghz hotspot. iPhone 11 should have a setting on its wifi. Connect your phone to a wifi. Than tuch the word wifi under the symbol. Find the settings. May be 3 dots. I'm not sure for your device. I hope this helps
