THANKS A TON !! :) THAT WAS me, who commented on the other video of yours and wanted to apply this on truenas scale, I do not see the SERVICES, seems by default, the TNS disables the SERVICES tab, I have currently switched it on, and it says, it will take some time to fetch all the services running on my TNS, I'm hoping it will detect my Plex server running on it :) I shall get back when its a success or a failure, You are awesome !!!!

Liked and Sub!! You just provided a way to share my Plex Media with family overseas, Thanks. I might point the Plex App IP to my domain, so all they have to do is launch a browser on the TV and type a URL. My only concern is Tailscale external IP being dynamic? Thanks again!

@@josephstewart2439 thanks for watching 😁 on the tailscale console there should be a part that lets you see the domain of the device you are trying to access if it does not appear just use the IP it is dynamic but it stays like that if I'm not mistaken 6 or 5 months then it changes again Hope this helps

Hi Jeff, I stucked on the 6:12 time of the video, Everything seems to be working, tailscale web seems to see my Truenas machine live and running, the green dot is on, but when I copy the ip address and paste it to the new window, nothing is happening and not even window open with the message not secure connection. (the message is "this web is not available"). Can you please help me with this issue, beacuase now I can control the Truenas just localy. Thank you for your advice. Architec7

@@Architec7 thanks for watching As to your question verify on the TrueNAS to see if there is no errors logs that might pinpoint your issue The other thing I would check is if host network is check ✅ on the Tailscale setup in TrueNAS Hope this resolved your issue 😁

So this only work on TrueNAS? I tried AsustorNAS and there is no option to check host network. I also get the page not found when hitting the external IP.

I am confused if you can help me, I want a family who live far away to stream my movies, but I hear NAS is better for your network not really for remote access specially for 4k huge movies, does that mean I better buy a high end pc so the transcoding is better for remote 4k movies ?

You don't necessarily need a high end PC to do the process depending on your needs if you want your family member to be able to have access to the server they need the device that they want to connect connected to the tailscale app if it's for the TV the app is also available for TV at least for me using tailscale to access the movies I don't have any difficulty with buffering the movies or waiting to load not all my movies are 4k and works pretty well For you family member to connect give them access to your tailscale account or invite them and give them permission so they are included on your tailnet (tailscale) Another thing to note is you can also make the process on a virtual machine instead of a NAS depending on what other apps you want to install but if all that process is too difficult to do then making a true NASA Scale might be the best option for you for flexibility Hope this helps 😁

Hey, brother, I created the tale scale account. Saw the machines that I had active like my cell phone and my Mac min I could not see plex. I saw your video over and over again. I'm so frustrated I bought the Plex pass. I got my media started but I can't get it outside of my home because of this. Because of this remote access, it is not actually working, and I've done so much research and regards to port forwarding. That hasn't worked, and I really thought this would work, and I'm exhausted. I'm already tired of trying and trying and failing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
