Charging it prior will keep your settings, so when it is turned off you don’t lose when you set up, such as time and date. You can check the recording whilst the engine is turned on. Or you can connect it up with your computer and review it then. Hope that helps

As for charging it via the computer, I will try that, but I'm pretty sure that will not make the battery run for at least 10 mins, as I have left it in the computer for long periods of time before.

I've just binned a cheap and nasty duel cam. It had 2 seperate cams, one of the front screen an one on the rear plus the usual what seems like miles of cabling! the picture quality as so bad, I doubt it could be used as evidence. I brought the vantrue mainly on your review, the only disappointed I have is the rear cam is stuck on my front passenger with no view out of the back window at all. Is this simply a positioning problem?

What happens is it will continue to record until the micro sd card is full. At that point it will overwrite the oldest recording. A 32 gb sd card should give you about 6 hours of recording before it starts to overwrite. If you want to save a point you might be able to lock 🔒 that point, so it doesn’t overwrite it. You can always have a spare sd card and switch it.

The process is easy: download the firmware file A95LYD.bin (latest as of today) from link above, and copy the file to the top folder (root directory) of the SD card. Put the card back in the dashcam and turn it on, it should see the file and update on its own (screen stays blank longer than usual). Once the update is done, go into the menus, then into SYSTEM SETUP, then into SYSTEM INFO, and verify it shows as version VTN2Pro8C.V10 like below. Finally, delete the firmware file from the card so the dashcam won't keep detecting it (or format the card if you don't need its contents).

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this comment! I successfully updated the firmware on my new N2Pro with absolutely no problems whatsoever based on this. The only slight variations are that I left the miniSD card in the N2Pro and connected the unit to the computer as a Mass Storage device via USB; and then copied the A95LYD.bin file directly to the root directory of the miniSD that way. (Physically dealing with miniSD cards and adapters is kind of fussy for me, so any time I can leave the card in the unit I do.) Also, since you wrote your comment is appears as if the N2Pro may automatically delete the firmware update file from the miniSD's root directory as a final stage of the update process, so it may not be necessary any more to delete that file manually. Again, thank you!

I would recommend getting the hardwire kit, running constant cig lighter will kill battery. The hardwire kit will shut off when the battery reaches a certain percentage so you still have enough juice to start your car.

Unrelated question but thought I should ask on your most recent upload. I struggle with pulling off quickly when I need to (roundabouts ect). You can plug it in and it will record once the micro s d card is in. You could go into the settings and set the date and time. If you want to do more on the settings again and look at how long you want to record the files and change it to English or another. I used 32gb and it recorded 7 hours then started to record over.
