How to Set Up: Union Expedition Splitboard Bindings

I bought this system with Explorer bindings on a Nitro Nomad. The transition is really not that hard although I wish I could do it a bit faster. However, the main issue is when going into riding mode, when you put down your bindings and rotate, the two parts of the board shift in the opposite directions. Due to friction, they shift apart in the direction of the longer side, while you rotate. You can easily see the missaligntment on the graphics on the top layer of the board after the bindings are in ride mode. You have to hold the board by the tail or nose to block any lateral slipping and even then it helps only a bit. Ugh. Not to mention you can't get rid of the play in the bindings no matter how well you adjust the pucks.These are OK for backdoor splitting/piste splitting, but I wouldn't take them to anything harder.

I think they updated the plates, gonna order them $50 and see if this helps the issue of the bindings moving in ride mode.

Looks like a decent binding but a two height climbing wire is key for comfort! Can't believe you decided against it.

Okay, bought a set, mounted them on a K2 Panoramic 158...but the plates are keeping the board from being able to be split. What gives? Any fixes for this?

is it possible to adjust the width of your stance? for instance i usually set my bindings in between the holes that are already on my solid boards cause is where i feel best, most union bindings let me do that..... will these let me do the same?

Hi, "Split bindings do not only have to be used with splitboards. If you have a quiver of decks to choose from when the situation calls, just mount the Union Split System disc on each one. With the push of a pin you can swap your Expedition bindings between each board quicker than it takes to lace your boots." This makes me wonder, are there Union Split System discs availabale for separate purchase? If so, where can be found ? Thanks

Thought I had the same issue, first pull it back then twist. There's a spring that holds it in place.

When the bindings in ride mode, I'm getting some play, 5degrees each way on both bidings. Thoughts or suggestions on how to lock this down would be appreciated.

So much rotation with the binding once the pin is in. Plus, it sometimes comes out! Also the Crampons are loose, I lost one going up.

yeah..i dont see why anyone would prefer this over a set of sparks or karakorams, other than price (but then I'd still opt for a solid secondhand pair over these unions). The whole thing about having better "feel" with the board with plastic bindings is utter BS imo.. I love how karakorams/sparks feel, their stiffness/responsiveness with the board

I've got Magnetos for my split and Atlas's for my solid board. I was just curious to see what their change over/pin method was. Don't seem that bad but having no edge to edge adjustment other than moving the heelcup is a deal breaker.

if you are worried about that put a thin foam stomp pad piece underneath where it will hit

The pin will either be in between the discs or in the touring bracket. And the pin is attached to the ankle strap, pretty hard to lose it. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the Expedition does not work with the hardware that Burton provides with their splitboards. However, it does work with the K2 split channel system.
