Great video and exactly what I needed to get this working on my Hik IP PTZ. Thank you. Only one follow up question: How do I get my PTZ to go to its park position more quickly after triggering a PTZ preset move with line crossing event. It just seems to stay at the preset position for 2 minutes before returning to park position.

Hi and thanks for the feedback , so login to the camera and go to configuration , then on the left hand side you will see the PTZ sub menu , under there is another sub menu called “park” , please go there and enable the park function , input a time , say 30 secs , and select the action so dropdown the box to pre-set and select pre-set required and save , this should resolve 😊

Hi , I can try but I have run over this a few times in the past , parameter error comes mostly from using incorrect email settings, do you know the email host being used? , also in network and preferred DNS setting use something like 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 , try that and let us know 

Figured it out! I webbrowesed into my ptz and set the park action. Work great!

you can go to web page of PTZ , login , then under configuration , then PT sub menu look for park action sub menu , then enable it , put the time needed and select pre-set as action and then pre-set number required 😊

Hi DVS. Quick question. I've managed to get the PTZ to be triggered by other cameras on my system when an intrusion detection is set off but the PTZ only stays at that triggered spot for only a few seconds before returning to its preset park action. How can I set it so for as long as there is motion in the intrusion zone, the PTZ stays there? Keep up the good work, I watch all your videos! Thank you!

I guess the park action is turned on inside the PTZ web menu , the default is 5 secs so I would login to the PTZ web configuration and go to PTZ menu, park action and increase the time there

Hi , the model supports smart tracking but only the PTZ can trigger it , you can turn it to a pre-set and then track from there but this is limited and will get over written by the park time eventually

Hi , technically yes but the home pre-set time , pre-set tour etc will override it , so it sounds great in theory but in practice will be frustrating

I don't seem to have this feature since I have upgraded with "DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL" I just have flash lights and audio. I use to have when line crossing is activated on my old dome style camera my "DS-2DE4A425IW-DE" would change to preset 2. Anyone know why I don't have the linking anymore?

Thanks Max! I have a quick qn. I am using Hik Central Professional 1.5 (as I don't have a Hikvision NVR). I can get a motion detection alarm on one camera to a PTZ to move to a preset on another camera, however once the PTZ has moved to the desired preset, it does not ever return to the park position. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks!

Hey , this should resolve , login to the PTZ , then go to configuration and PTZ menu on the left, then under Park action menu , enable this and set the time to say 30 secs , and choose action as pre-set and then the desired home pre-set needed , then save , all ok 😊

@@DVSLTD I presumed so. I believe it is from around 2017-2018 release date. I have a system composed by DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S NVR, 3 * DS-2cd2046G2-IU/SL bullet cameras and a DS-2DE7232IW-AE PTZ. The cameras are mounted on a 3,5 meter high pole on each corner of a 500 sqm property with the PTZ near the driveway and pedestrian access. I have found one iDS-2PT9122IX-DE/S for sale, new and unusedt for ~200 Eur. I am interested in it for the scare factor alone and because it looks querky. I wanted to ask if it has autotracking and if it has a good image quality, even if it is EOL. Should you recall something from that camera, your opinion would be of great value. Happy new year btw :).

I have a DS-2DE4A204IW-DE, seems like you have a DS-2DE4A225IW-DE. What firmware are you in? I don’t have the PTZ Linkage option available from Linkage Method on VCA. Currently on v5.5.0

Is it possible to trigger smart tracking once the PTZ has been triggered by a line cross via another camera. At the moment it the ptz goes to the preset for 5 seconds then goes back to park preset. I want it to smart track once it is triggered to one of my presets. Thanks, Luke.

the issue is smart tracking is the lowest priority , so trigger pre-set , park position take control over the smart track , is the park pre-set set to say 5-10 secs? , if so could you extend this to say 60? , the issue is if the line cross activates again it drives it back to the alarm position

@@DVSLTD i am going back to the job tomorrow to have another play i basically want the ptz to smart track once a line cross is triggered on one of my static cameras. The park position of my PTZ does not cover the area were any of the line crosses on the other cameras are present. Hope this makes sense. Thank you.

@@bailey4x4 Hi , it does make sense yes , in theory its possible , the issue will be making the park time long enough to track before it returns to its home pre-set and making sure the line cross doesn’t activate again as it will override the smart tracking

Can these events then also trigger the PTZ to follow the object(ideally person or vehicle)?

Smart tracking is hard to maintain as is lowest priority so would be overridden when next VCA event occurred , which could be seconds later

@@magictrick8833 You can adjust the sensitivity and reduce detection areas on the PTZ under configuration , but motion externally can be effected to easily , if using VCA some later firmware support min and max object size you can try this , and also the sensitivity and can be adjusted , it’s not always ideal but it should help , also check product is on latest firmware as this can improve performance

actually we can but in reality it doesn’t work that well as the VCA then triggers again and then sends the PTZ back the pre-set if you get me ,

So basically as certain line crossings, area's are accessed it brings up another preset within the target area? Quick info on the scene - i have 4x colorvu camera's on a pole with the Smart tracking ptz on the top. Previously the PTZ was on patrol, but you could watch the ptz and learn its movements, so the Smart tracking was useless. So now I have the vca triggers calling the ptz - but pity i'm losing the smart track functionality... any way i could set this up better?

@@kimvanvuurendigitalcreation the issue will be this as described, when the VCA triggers again in the static camera it will override the smart tracking and then go to the alarm pre-set , so I can’t stop this as it is , the other issue is if the PTZ has a park pre-set setup then again this will override the smart tracking and then send it home, I will have a think If I can come up with a workaround

Hi , yes, login to the Web of the IP PTZ, then go to configuration , then under the PTZ menu on the left hand side ,locate the park action Tab, enable this and set the desired time, then the pre-set you want the camera to return to 😊

Hi , thanks , in theory you could use the authenticate output ( door open ) to also trigger camera or NVR alarm input which would allow the camera to turn , there are linkage actions inside the software also but yet to test that function but great idea

@@niallharper1150 Hi , I added the intercom to the NVR via latest GUI 4 and IOT firmware , there is lots of trigger options but not one to make it alert when the intercom calls ( older Gen1 villa ) , you can on latest firmware assign the output 1 on the indoor station to alarm , then wire this into the alarm input on the NVR or IP camera , not ideal but a work around , I have feed back this to HQ 😊

Yes, please login to the camera web browser , then go to configuration , then PTZ , then choose sub menu of park action , then enable it , set the park action to pre-set and select the desired pre-set that you have already set , and the time , and save , then it will 😊

I've done this, but the delay between the line crossing (or intrusion area) is really bad - around 8-10 seconds - before the PTZ moves. :/ Any idea why this might be? PTZ is a DS-2DE3304W-DE, NVR is a DS-7608NI-I2, triggering camera is a DS-2CD2385G1-I, everything on latest firmware. Network is fine. Thanks

@@DVSLTD Can now confirm it's H265+ causing the issue. It seems the camera (the DS-2CD2385G1-I) doesn't have the processing power for H265+ and this feature. Dropping to H264 or even H265 resolves the issue. Reverting to H265+ again (rebooting between each try) confirms the issue as repeatable. Thanks for the suggestion - I was (honestly!) thinking it might be that. Good to have it confirmed and at least now you (and others) know of this as a potential issue. Cheers!

Look at that, on the left screen, those tiny insects at 1:50, scouring in front of the camera, tripping the alarm. I get them every night here. They're hard to see with a naked eye or strong torch. I am experimenting today with duct tape. Seems like they hate going over that stuff.
