Thank you for this. Can I add. The times it is set to come on is indicated by a blue marker and the off time is red. You can see it if you shine a torch on the clock dial. You are right you can't change it.

I've just moved into a place with this exact heating controller. I've noticed the timer light comes on when you set the dial to between about 2am and 7am. Seems like that's the hours It's programmed to heat water (off peak hours to save you money). Although the boost is also there if you need hot water quickly.

The programming is to be done by a qualified electrician but they have to open the box for that So all you need to do is adjust to the correct time and it should come on from 4am to 7am every morning

During the summer it does. In the winter it depends on how many times or people use it. If just 1 or 2 people then yes it serves the whole day.

For me, a single occupier, the water is too hot for the amount I'm going to use - almost scalding hot. It appears that there's no adjustment possible for the overnight period. I guess the only adjustment possible is to switch it off for a day (or more) and just use it until all the heated water is used up and then switch it on again. Needs more user adjustable controls now electricity prices have soared.

You state in the video you can't really use the clock to set a timer so to speak, but as you rotated it, the power came on real quick indicating it was set to come on at a certain time. Any idea how to set that time? It doesn't make sense otherwise setting the time on it if it serve no purpose no?

Do you think I can fool the system into giving me hot water when it's not 12am-7am? So if its 5pm and I have no hot water, can I set the boiler time to 1am and my tank will start to fill again with hot water? I'm fed up of having hardly any hot water, especially when I hardly use it. I can't even bath my daughter tonight as I believe my water is heated and shared amongst the communal block.

No it doesn’t have to be set at midnight As long as you set it to the current time when you are doing it and do so under the summer or winter mark.

Hi! I moved to a new place around a week ago and we have one of these at home. I managed to set it up and now we always have hot water, however my girlfriend and I are afraid that the boiler is working full time (imagine the electricity bill), is this really a possibility or these boilers just work for a short period of the day and then keep the water hot? many thanks in advance!

Yeah they would heat up for a certain period mostly early in the morning and keep the water hot for the day If set correctly

If an electrician could explain how the blue and orange tabs seen through the slots work , that would be great , but the consumer should not remove the faceplate unless there approved electrician and competent

When it was installed it should have been set up so that the boiler heats up during Economy 7 (off peak electricity rates) times which in my area, is between midnight and 7am, which makes it cheaper to run. Mine heats the water from 3am - 6am. I imagine if I had a larger boiler then maybe it could require 4hrs to heat a whole tank rather than the 3, who ever installed it would know the boilers requirements though and should have set it up accordingly. Once the water is hot it will stay hot until all the heated water in the tank has been used, therefore the blue and orange tabs are irrelevant unless you are a engineer qualified to make the changes 😉 Cancel Reply

Yeah the main switch on the left can be left on and if you set the timer right then it will heat up early morning for the whole day. If you need to use hot water and there it none then you can turn the one on the left till the light comes on. This will heat up using boost for 1hour

When you want hot water do you get cold water at least or just absolutely no water at all? If you get no water at all then it's because the hotel water valve is closed...

Hi how can the battery be removed from this model please? I’m renting a flat where this model has a very loud ticking sound and when I switch the timer off, the ticking continues. This is because the clock is powered by a rechargeable battery. If the battery is removed, I should be able to switch the ticking off during the night.

Is there any way of keeping the boiler on 24/7? We have one of those at home and before we use to always have hot water. Even if we use it all, after 30-40min we would have hot water again without having to do anything. But one of my house mates messed up the control and we now have hot water just for 2 people to shower. After that we need to keep using the booster

In this case I’d advise you find a way to get an electrician to reset it to how it was before There are some controls that are only accessible when you open it up which should be done by a professional

I think the blue and orange tabs set the time that the switch on and off takes place, these MUST be within the economy 7 period of midnight to 7 o clock say, otherwise you will be trying to energise an economy 7 circuit at the SAME TIME as the ordinary circuit which will trip the system. I think that’s the reason why anyone who doesn’t know what they are doing should not fiddle with it.
