Great video Glenn, your description of the configuration of this feature is spot on. As you know this feature can also be activated from a smart event such as line crossing or intrusion zone. That way you can use motion detection for triggering recording and the smart event for LED activation and push notifications. The great thing about this feature is when the LED activates, the person naturally looks up at the source of the light so you get a great full colour face shot. Keep up the good work!

Hi mate thanks for the video , I recently bought 4mp and 8mp colour vu cameras . I tried to test them by pointing them at a box with some writings on it . The 8 mp one shows the writings a bit blurry but 4mp is totally crisp and clear . Can you please kindly tell me how to make the video more clear on the 8mp one? I had a look at all video and image settings but could not find any related settings to adjust the blurry video /image . Thanks for reading. Kevin

Installed firmware from your website it's V5.5.160 build 201103 - can't control white light, when I put it to manual and move the slider it always comes back to zero and brightness doesn't change. Also there is no tab "white light alarm" in the events. Is there some new version where everything works fine?

Hi there I have this exact same camera and have updated it’s firmware to the one off your website as u have here. Everything works exactly the same as your camera once set up ie when an alarm event happens the light comes on at %100 brightness at night the only difference is that the light is always on at a low brightness all night but just goes to full brightness when an alarm event is triggered. Just wondering if u have any idea why the light stays on at low brightness? I would like it so the light is always off until an alarm even is triggered then come on at %100

Hey guys, i think you might have the wrong firmware uploaded on your site for the white light alarm. In the video you mention you need Build200910 but on your site i can only see Build 201014 for download, which is what already comes installed on the camera?

Well spotted. The new firmware was released the day after the video came out. We have put on the latest one for download. Note new Australian models are now being delivered with the correct firmware.

Hi Security Perth. As was pointed out by Paul, I too am using the newer firmware 201014 as supplied with a recently purchased AU stock camera, as it comes out of the box. Have been testing this camera before going all out and buying eight of them and an NVR but I cannot for the life of me get the White Light Alarm to work consistently despite copying your settings to the letter. Have you guys (or anyone) been successful setting this up with this 201014 firmware? It’s incredibly hit and miss the way it operates. I’d expect it to come on (especially if scheduled to do so) with each and every alarm event. Seems to be as if ambient lighting effects it. Even in forced night mode, unless the area is totally dark, it will only work occasionally.

It's working. Tried on my EU version DS-2CD2047G2-LU and works fine. I only had to reformat the SD card.

Hi Hielke, Glenn is using a customised firmware which is for the Oceania region only but I believe this feature will be in our baseline firmware soon. It has made ColorVu very popular in Australia.

It would be nice if these cameras could be used to trigger an IFTTT event so we can turn on a porch light via Alexa when human activity is detected. Thanks for the video, but the 7 cameras I just installed on my house are coming down and going directly into the garbage or given away. Absolutely ridiculously stupid left brained unintuitive nonsense that I can't simply activate audio mode or turn the light on/off whenever I want, camera by camera, right from the app. Going into advanced clunky camera settings for lighting and audio is total nonsense., especially this day and age. Even my Ring camera that I have at two entry points I can easily turn the audio on/off in 1/2 second, right on the app...and it doesn't get any more dumbed down than the Ring. "here's a ton of interesting features, none of which you have basic access to." LOL
