In a context of XC, calling a Vittoria Barzo "something faster rolling" is like taking a tractor to an F1 race for its "improved handling". It has tons of grip but rolls as well as a cube on flat ground compared tires like the Mezcal or Peyote, or even Terreno which offers superb rolling and way more grip than people think when it's not muddy.

At no point in xc history was a race ever won or lost due to the weight of the chosen grips. In fact, I'd wager that no placing has ever been due to the weight of a grips. In any endurance event, mental fortitude, focus, and strategy are by-and-large what separate anyone from their nearest competitors (gearing range excluded).
@TheAllEngineering2 жыл бұрын
It is not just about the weight alone. A race however could be won or lost due to not being comfortable on the bike. Being in pain due to discomfort can sway the strategy from placing on the podium to one of survival and just finishing. For this reason if a particular set of grips was not comfortable, maybe caused excessive arm pump for example it could come into play.

@TheAllEngineering2 жыл бұрын
@@ianfleischhacker6154 You may think that but I have helped people on a number of occasions where they cannot pinpoint where the problem is. And yes in some cases it has turned out to be the handlebar grips contributing to the issue.
@ianfleischhacker61542 жыл бұрын
@@TheAllEngineering Fair enough, and I don't discount the importance of the right grips for the right hands. But this seems like an apples vs oranges exchange, i.e. grip weight and discomfort from "the wrong" grips are different things.

I ride mainly on Vittoria tyres (Barzo and Mezcal), it''s written that it's not recommended to use a pressure under 2, 0 bars. You say you inflate them at 24 psi (1,6 bars) for the back and 22 psi (1.5 bars) for the front, is it safe despite what Vittoria says ?

Spotted the Orbea Alma; mine is a lower-spec M25 with XT mechanicals. Just wondering if your air-pressure is based on tubeless (assumption) and how much more pressure would be necessary for running tubes. We have well-groomed trails around the SF Bay Area and I use 28 PSI front and 30 rear. Too much? Can I safely air down a few pounds?

I'd love to buy a Canyon Lux, if only they made them in a amateur aluminium version. These carbon prices are over the top
@schmitt2583 жыл бұрын
I totally agree that there should be atleast one version with an aluminium frame, even if it´s on entry level. But compared to aluminium bikes with similar components there´s not a really big price gap. Lux CF 7 with carbon frame, Oiz 10 TR and Trance 1, both with aluminium frame, all with Shimano XT and and similar suspension and only a difference of 400 - 500 €. Bikes are expensive, not much we can do about it.
@RoyalRhino3 жыл бұрын
@@schmitt258 yeah true. But if you made an alu frame you would have a much better price. And besides that. I don't need carbon. I prefer alu much more
@marcalvarez48903 жыл бұрын
The LUX has no rear pivot. The seat stays flex to track the shock mount. You cannot flex aluminum like that. So there will be no budget version. The Lux design is possible ONLY because of the material properties of carbon fiber.

Have you made a decision yet? They're pretty similar bikes, seems to me like the MTR comes with a bit nicer components overall, but the differences aren't going to make or break the bikes. Really it seems to me that you need to decide if you want a 29er or a 27.5 bike.

I bought my younger kids Norco bikes and am very pleased with the quality. They do outgrow bikes quickly though and my son who is 11 will be between the kids size and adult pretty soon, so he’ll either be too big for the kids bike or I put him on a 27.5 that he’s a bit short for.

Everything functions properly kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of KZbin. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

Generally, when you go longer, it feels weird to go back to narrow, so, 700mm feels a little too short. I use 720mm for XC (but many people using 740mm). If you do Enduro/DH, more like 760-780 would be awesome
