1, download more ram 2 delete system 32 for windows/ or the French language pack for Linus 3, download more vram for the new nvdia cards 4, put icecubes on the CPU/GPU to ice cool it

(real answer: deleting system32 makes your pc a paperweight because it's a bunch of essential stuff. and on linux, running "rm -rf /" is said to remove your french language pack but it actually removes your entire root folder, also bricking it.)

Tip: if you're pc turns on, but doesn't display anything to the monitor, try plugging the HDMI cable into the motherboard. If it displays, it means something is wrong with the graphics card

Actually if you plug in your video cable to the motherboard and you do have a iGPU on the cpu, it will display correctly. Windows will even act accordingly and turn off the video card when it's not needed. But the moment you run a graphic intensive application it will auto switch to the GPU and go through as if the physical cable was plugged into the GPU.

The line is actually a 1 which is bassically on in binary, and the circle is a 0. Thats why the power button looks the way it does, it's the 1 and the 0 combined (since it turns things on and off)

For anyone that’s curious, the “line” is a 1 and the “circle” is a 0. In binary, 1 represents on/active and 0 represents off/inactive.

Pro Tip: the circle and line is actually a 1 and 0, binary. 1 is on and 0 is off. Also, plugging the hdmi/display cable into the motherboard will work, but you wont get the performance of the video card, obviously.

My easiest way of remembering which way the circuit breaker switch (like in the back of power supply’s) needs to be flipped is thinking it as an open circuit and a closed circuit

For those curious, it will actually work if you plug the cable in the motherboard, but it will be using the CPU's integrated GPU, which is way worse than the physical GPU

The 0 (or circle) on the on off switch is actually meant to be binary code. I’m binary, a 0 is no, so it’s commonly used to be an off symbol. And a 1 is yes, but they use it as on. Hope this helps!

The best way to remember where to put in your HDMI or DP cable into your GPU for your monitor, is this - "down below where your cables go, this is where your graphics will show".

Wiuld have been worth mentioning that plugging the monitir into the motherboard will often work, but not well. If you get low fefresh rate, make sure it is plugged into the video card.

Quick tip for you rookies: The igpu on your cpu if it has one it will only work if the motherboard has integrated graphics support and if there is no gpu slotted into the PCIe slot which there should be two

When I was younger and had my first pc, I actually ran it with the HDMI plugged into the motherboard slot for about a year before I heard someone talking about that issue... Let's just say all my games ran so much smoother when I plugged it into the graphics card 🤣

First thing i did was run Driver Booster for Steam because my pc was missing wifi drivers and nothing i tried using ethernet would fix it, and that fixed my problem

As an electrician that knows what that "o" means it would drive me crazy if it was changed. Closed and open circuits you wouldn't get power if the ckt was open. You need continuity it isn't just some magic symbol they have meanings.

I know there's a lot of comments about what the O/I markings are but one minor correction I feel compelled to make is that it's not binary or a 1 and a 0, though that is fair enough. It's an open ( O ) or closed ( I ) circuit. or whether there's a contact gap. At the end it accomplishes the same thing but electricity/electronics nerds will surely appreciate it. :)

No. It will usually work in the motherboard (most PC feature an iGPU) But you still should plug it in the GPU.

I know on older motherboards like z97 and on AM3 motherboards you could connect to the motherboard and it would work fine but you would lose out on 10% of your gpu performance. It was a nice to be able to leverage sli in a way that actually seemed to use both gpus better back in the day.

Slight context and correction: You *can* plug it into your motherboard's Displayport/HDMI/Display output ports, it just wont be running and rendering any graphical environments and applications using the GPU, but instead, using your CPU, effectively "bottlenecking" your system to the CPU speeds instead of GPU (yes, I wrote this to annoy those who hates that word) Thats the reason why people tell you to plug into the GPU port instead of the Motherboard - it WILL work, but you'll not be maximizing its capabilities

You only need to plug 1 of your display cables or hdmi cables into your GPU, but it has to be your main display in the gpu, the rest can go into the motherboard.

A couple months ago, I built my first PC and I had the dumb decision to plug my monitor into my motherboard and one day my PC monitor would not turn on at all, and I felt like a real idiot when I realized it was plugged to my motherboard and not in my graphics card. Since I really do not know a lot about PC building this is my first build uhh but I did really good for my first build. 🙂

Step 4 make sure you enable xmp in uefi/bios or your ran speed will be limited and 5 your display settings will default to 59.9 hz for some reason, change it to whatever your screens refresh rate is.

Step 4: Make sure your fans are facing the right direction before boot. Step 5: Download a proper internet browser and proceed to never use Microsoft Edge. Step 6: Make sure that sleep mode is turned on after 10 minutes of no use. 2 other things to remember: Change your print screen button to become a snip tool in your settings. It helps when you just want a small section of a screen. Window + L: Locks your computer when your not using it.

plugging into your motherboard works if you're buying the K version on intel mobo, i know a guy that plugged into it and plays with us for few days until he start complaining about the performance issue, and the first thing we said: "are u sure u plugged it into the right hole" (that's what she said 😉 )

I work on a friend’s computer he got for his kid. Couldn’t get video out of the graphics card. Turned out the cpu had onboard graphics and it was defaulting to that. Got display on second monitor and made the graphics cards priority. Then I accidentally left one of the ram sticks loose and had to travel back to fix that.

My steps are as follows. 1, Unpack system(including internal packaging) 2, Switch power supply to the 'ON' position. 3, Connect peripherals such as display, keyboard, mouse, and power, as well as audio, if preferred. 4, On first boot, plug in a USB drive containing a copy of Linux Mint. 5, Use the BIOS to select the USB drive as the boot option and boot into the USB drive. 6, Install Linux Mint then reboot 7, If an Nvidia graphics card is present, install the Nvidia drivers from the driver manager. 8, You're off to the races, do whatever you want in Linux, as you now own your PC.

Ok just for a little bit of context, it CAN work if plugged into the motherboard. All that’s needed is a CPU that comes with Integrated Graphics. Of course if you want to see the limits of your GPU plug it into the GPU. But the motherboard is an option.
