I appreciate the videos..that throttle cable is very important . My dad first Gen which had no lock up and no overdrive had a very tall gear ..a recipe for a lot of heat and failure

I just bought a 04 dodge cummins 2500 with a rebuild 48re and its been downshifting pretty hard around 1st and second gear and also not knowing whether to be in 3rd or 4th gear around 20 to 30mph. I replaced the trans output speed sensor and that fixed the hectic shifting from 3rd to 4th gear but its still down shifting pretty hard. I'm just now learning about diesels and trans so any help would be lovely, thanks!

Could be the way the trans was built. Would be best to talk to a trany guy and say what they think.

Hey bud, I have a 98 12 valve automatic transmission. I hooked up a scanner and I’m only getting 59% out of my TPS at wot. So I removed it and checked again with a screwdriver and I got 99% at wot. Do I need to adjust the rod or what? Thanks man!

if your talking throttle cable , i would check to see if you pedal is bent , i have had to fix mine couple times

@@CUTTERUPROB well with everything put together it only reads 59% at WOT. It's not hitting the stop, its way off. Must be something binding. I can't seem to figure it out lol

When i burnt out my 47re i got a 5 speed swap basically for free so i didnt bother looking into it. When i was doing the swap i found the TV cable was completely disconnected. Wish i kept the swap now so i could build it and sell the 5 speed swap. Autos are just better these days.

Would a kinked tv cable cause gear hunting? I’m having a hell of a time taking it down, freshly built unit and it started about 300 miles after

Checked the TV cable on my 02. It's good but still got a harsh shift between first n second and in overdrive only 10000 miles on the transmission. Any ideas?

I understand how to set them up but i dont understand how to diagnose a bad cable by myself. Just did a tranny swap and dont want to burn it. Cable should be good but cable itself is questionable so im not positive its working properly.

@@CUTTERUPROB Ya ill try to find one again after xmas. Getting hard to find parts for these now for some reason. Couldnt get the right lines in for my life and had to reject 2 flexplates before they got right one. Made my own lines, came out pretty damn close to original.

So what you guys are saying is that it’s not needed for a FMVB. I just swapped a 47re in to my first gen and I’m trying to figure out if it needs to be connected or do I lock it in all the way open. Thx buddy for the content and keep the good work!
