For lever drag, you adjusted the drag while the lever was in the strike position and not in free. I have always heard that it’s best to set the drag while in free and then move the lever to strike or full to test the actual drag. What is your take on this? Adjust the drag in free or it doesn’t matter what position the lever is in…

I should not do that cause it can hurt the O rings but a lot of times if the reel is at strike and you fail drag up til it does not move it gets it close to the drag setting you are looking for. Its high be under a little but works. This is not recommended but I do this.

Question from a new Accurate Owner, as of 7/18/22 My style of fishing, is for King Mackeral, (And also, there are other larger Fish, we get hooked up with Cobia, Tarpon, Sharks) from the end, of an Ocean Pier, on the east coast. I fish live bait, and a drag, that lets the fish run, after the strike, sometimes, 200-250 yds. But, when you get them back to the pier, you need more drag, than normal, to keep them, from wrapping the pier pylons. The amount of strike drag I use, with the lever, in the strike position, isn't enough, when pushed to full lock, to stop the fish. The Question: Can I set my lever, below the strike stop, without worrying about it backing off, so I'll have more drag, when I need it, at the end of the fight?

You can push the lever pass the strike and go to full which should lock the drag. All reels are the same. Full should stop all line coming off the spool.

@@AccurateFishingReels Even if the Preset, isn't tightened all the way down? Sorry, no informational paperwork., in the reel box. I have other lever drags, and if I set the strike drag I need, against the stop, go past the stop, and they don't lock up. All I really need to know, is, can I set my strike drag, BELOW the stop, without it easing it's way, back to free spool. I know, if I want more drag, to go by the stop, to get it.
