Hey nice video. Do you have a tutorial on how to line lay on an Overhead jigging reel?
@JacobE-232 жыл бұрын
It's been a year, so you've probably gotten the answer already. But you want it on as tight as possible. Super tight onto the reel. Use a rag or something to hold the line as your spooling it on. Tighter the better. Use some backing also, I like to do one or two clean layer on the bottom of the spool, also tight but not stretched out since mono stretches. There's little chamfers on the edges of the spool, stop your line when your basically even with that and your all set!. Just tie on your leader of choice and good to go!

Hey mate, are you being mindful on how the line is being retrieved on the Ocea jigger since there are no level wind? I tried the Torium and had the line concentrate on the right side of the spool while slow jigging from kayak.
@UltimateFishingTV3 жыл бұрын
As with all high end over head reels you use your finger to guide the line on. We do it with everything from Ocea Jigger 1000 to the big Talica 50. It becomes second nature.
@greenguitarfish2 жыл бұрын
I just got the Ocea Jigger 2000 hg reel, spooled with #3 braid. I took it out on the boat. Being totally new to overhead reels, I had some problem keeping the line from bunching up on the left side of the spool. How do I keep this from happening, there does not seem to be anything out there addressing this issue that I can find.
@UltimateFishingTV2 жыл бұрын
As you jig you can rock the spool slowly from side to side to help spread the line. Another trick when learning, is to spread the line back evenly (using your thumb) at the end of each drift.

Line rating will be on the rod. Match accordingly. Consider your planned application.

Now I'm wondering if I should use two assist hooks on the jig or just one because the ones you use it's very successful with one but some fish just pec on it first so it's not ideal for those fish if the hook is facing one way, so is two better or is one? One is safer when taking out the hook but it's still not effective.
@firdausfazil1666 Жыл бұрын
One hook for fish that suck the lure, two hooks for speed fish that bite the lure like barracuda/big spanish mackerel

I too like Shimano reels. That is until I tried a Penn Slammer III. The Slammer III literally has twice the drag. For instance the 10k series, Shimano has 33lbs of drag where the Slammer has 60lbs of drag. Not to argue, just saying. And I fish mostly Shimano reels too both inshore and offshore. But my jigging reels are now Penn Slammer III reels. Less expensive too. And sealed. Each his just some info for chosing a jigging reel Also like a Star Paraflex rod too It's a Florida thing I guess lol Nice work bro!
