Again, excellent video! Could you tell us a little more about when to preferably 3bet small pocket pairs? Is it ideal in position against players with a wide opening range who tend to be rather passive on flops that they miss? Or would that just make it a bluff 3bet with a little equity for the times we get called? Thanks James!

Try H. I like 3betting small pairs when villain will fold a lot (large gap between O and C ranges)...this is done as a bluff ofc.

great videoo but you have sometimes to play sp in the blinds vs a steal raise. not because you think you get paid of of his weak range, but for the fact that you can represent a strong hand. if someone knews that you never plays sp in sou a situatian thats exploitable. but as always great video

Great video, totally enjoyed it. My only question would be, since low stakes live cash game are usually raising bigger than online, does it mean we just can never setmine profitably unless both players have doubled up? exemple 1/2 : max buy-in is 200$, raises are between 10-20$ preflop...so unless we are both deeper there is simply no good spot to setmine i guess. Same goes for 2/5, max buy-in is 500$ and raises are 25-50$

THIS. My 2/2 NL game has a max buy in of 150 and an average open raise size is from 6 to 15, depending on the table dynamics. Even with a 6 dollar open, it would be impossible to get a 25x. I think for live, maybe around a 12x-15x would make more sense, that way a $10 open with a $150 stack would be reasonable. Would like to see what SplitSuit has to say about this.

Yeah, so the goal here is profitability. I'm used to an interesting dynamic as well, in Colorado where there is $100 max spread limit games. So, I have both the buy-in problem that you guys have highlighted, and the fact that I can only wager $100 on 3 streets; in other words, very hard to get paid off, and even when you do, it's $300. So I think you just have to take that into account - which is what he stated, more of less, and set-mine only in optimal conditions. I simply use the 5/10 rule for that part of the problem since the 25x rule is simply not realistic in most of these cases. However, as I say that, these games are also annoying limp call games, most of the time, which puts the 25x thing back in play - if someone limps for $2, with a $200 stack (extremely common) we have our 25x criteria - the problem is that they are limping such an enormously wide range they never have anything to pay us off - so, yeah, 5/10 rule in these games amongst all the other factors he highlighted in the video.

being results orientated, I missed a big one. $1/$2 game UTG opens to $20 CO flats (tight old man) I am sitting OTB with 44. I elected to fold and sure enough 4 on the door. I wont tell you if it would have held up because regardless I folded. I want to say fold was good because I am looking at a 2 outer.

I do think we should take in to consideration that when a guy has 60BB he is much more likely to be a weaker player who will likely either stack off post flop with one pair and or check fold when he misses or maybe even check call A high

Yes, sucks when you are around 20-30bb deep. You need to be much deeper. It's a bad idea because it's a waste play. When you are 20bb deep you will lose way too much of your stack trying to hit something you simply won't hit enough times. It's also a bad idea because other players are also short so they are more likely to shove hands. Which means you can't be sure to even see the flop.

If there are lots of fish at your table when you do have a marginal decision like small pocket pairs, your best bet is to fold, against fish you are always going to get better opportunities there is no need to fight for the marginal spots.

so basically i would make it the 2,5% rule instead of the 5% rule? im trying to make it simple because figuring out how much $0,16 x 25 is might be tough at the table. especially when multitabling. figuring out how big the bet is in compareance to the effective stack size is much quicker and easier.
