Great video thanks. It would be interesting to tag the ones you turn loose to see if ya catch them again in the same fishing trip.

When people ask if it's a hard shell, that purple color is usually a good indicator. That means they've spent a lot of time in saltwater instead of the bay.

what’s up PK? hey on that bigger round trap what pound test are you using and what knot did you use to tie it to the black line that closes the trap? thanks man. great video. i’m looking forward to trying this here in Long Beach WA - tight lines
@oregonlife3 жыл бұрын
I use 80# braid, and tie a uni-knot. It's the only knot I use.

Would you recommend this for catching off a jetty where there are a big build up of rocks like at barview?
@oregonlife3 жыл бұрын
Jetty is difficult because you got a lot of rocks. I've lost many crab hawks off jetties before. I think crab snare is better for jetties because it's lighter to lift over the rocks. Also, I would use a long surf rod, I have a 15' that works really well for jetty crabbing.

What are your thoughts on using the halfmoon traps vs the rectangular ones?
@tonys41193 жыл бұрын
Hey PK do you prefer the promar traps over the crab daddy? Keep up the great work 👍
@ryefry3 жыл бұрын
I think the size and bait bag will be huge benefits, but the pull will be a lot heavier.
@oregonlife3 жыл бұрын
Now I do. I will use that Promar from now on.

I go to Siletz bay all the time. But it is the slow time of the season right now. It will be a lot better starting September.

Crabbing is bleak in Westport today. Maybe on a boat is better but from shore, not good at all!
@kevinrivera14923 жыл бұрын
Hey pk, how is the crab doing? Have they filled out much yet?
@oregonlife3 жыл бұрын
It's been slow. They seem pretty full to me. I tend to get the softer shells towards the end of summer.
