Wrestled with it for 10 minutes then realized my travel clips were located 2 feet above my head. No problem now. Thanks for the video.

yes, you can keep them attached to the coach. When a strong wind comes up, it's always good to role the awning in to avoid damage to the awning and coach. Also, a good idea is to buy clips that attach to the fabric and side arms when the awning is rolled out, to keep the fabric from flapping too much in wind.

Great demo, one constructive comment is that the vinyl should not be unrolled too far. The vinyl, as I understand should be unrolled short of the attachment point. Drip flap can be vertical, then first groove, second groove, then leave a little extra vinyl on roller, so that the tension is not directly on the groove where the cloth is attached.

Good idea - I'll try it.

Can you leave the arm attached to the trailer for use...or do the arms have to be on the ground? thanks

It would roll out easier if your pull strap was in the center of the roller tube. Probably be gentler on your springs too since you would be unrolling them evenly. Great demonstration however and easy to understand.

Agree with you.We were never told that its best to have the strap in the middle when rolling awning up and as a resuld we did have a few problems when trying to un roll awning out it would not roll out as it eas not even when rolled up last time

While an RV awning seems very different from the awning of a home or commercial establishment, the basic concepts remains the same. Which is why people who are into DIY, or are just curious must check out this video. What we loved was the simplicity with which the folks at the The Motorhome Conversion Company showed how to set up the awning for a residential vehicle. The expertise was something we can associate with and respect in all worksmen. Learn more about awnings at: Shutters Australia 5/9 Packard Avenue Castle Hill NSW 2154 Phone: (02) 8858 0900

My Dometic awning has a center support arm. Husband can't remember how exactly to use the "lever" that is attached to it. I have searched for a demonstration video on this particular set-up, but cannot seem to find anything. Any suggestions.....??
