I would download the jar file manually from paperspigots website. Then I would rename it to server.jar and drag it into the root directory of your server and try to start the server.

Are you running 1.20.5? If you are you need to run Java 21 as that is required now. You can change the Java version the server is running under the server egg somewhere in the admin section.

To get Java 21 working you would go to Admin then Nests then under Configured Nests click on Minecraft then under Nest Eggs click on Paper then under Docker images add the following line to the top: Java 21|ghcr.io/pterodactyl/yolks:java_21 Leave Admin panel and make sure that Docker Image under Startup is set to Java 21. After that, you can startup your server/s.

Disclaimer: you are not allowed to ask for support in the official pterodactl Discord if you use the install script.. I found this out the hard way, got my port-forwarding working but nobody was able to join so I asked, got banned when they saw that I had used an install script

I wish Pterodactyl had made an official installation script. It's a bit ridiculous that we have to do a lot more steps just to get a working panel following their guides. It's can 100% be done. Anything is possible in life as I like to say. And if it is less safe to run a script, than put a disclaimer on their wiki saying run at your own risk. I think it would be a no brainer to have an official script because it would draw more market share towards Pterodactyl. And do the same with the new Pelican Panel. Mostly my opinion though. :D

tried the installer on a proxmox lxc behind a wireguard connection, can't cant wings to communicate to panel it just gives me a connection refused error over 443, might have to do more messing around but have spent two nights on it 😅 UPDATE: Fixed it by using my lxc's local IP rather than a domain, followed rest of tutorial, then ran wg-quick up to get my wireguard connected and used the wireguard IP in allocations. works great. Also managed to get it behind my nginx proxy manager so now everythings on SSL, super happy.

I'm running the Ubuntu Server with all the setup as a VM on my Esxi Server and the first server I created (on pterodactyl) just works fine no issues with port forwarding at all but that's it so creating a second server that is allocated to the same node seems to refuse the connection even if I port forward to a different port that is allocated to the second server I hope it was understandable how I described my problem 😅

You will need to port forward your server to make it public outside your local network. Good video, I was wondering if you perhaps know how to install it in an Orange Pi 5 weather physical or in docker(preferably). I have attempted using pufferpanel and it appears to have a problem with the Minecraft fabric template and can't seem to fix it or find someone who has, but there are many with this problem.

I would have done a video installing Pterodactyl on the Orange Pi 5 but unfortunately Pterodactyl did not function properly on any SBC I have. Wings which is part of Pterodactyl was having major issues when I tried running a server on the Raspberry Pi 4 and Orange Pi 5. So I did a video on the next best which is PufferPanel. I have attempted multiple times to get it to work by trying different methods and they all failed. I really hope this issue gets fixed.

Totally! But I would advise you run this on a computer that is not being used for anything else. Basically don't run this on the family computer unless you can find software to virtualize it without destroying important data. Virtual Box and VMWare Workstation Player would be good choices. And if you do decide to run this on your home network you will need to know how to port forward your server so that the outside world can connect. The only way to fix the red heart is to re-install Ubuntu and pterodactyl. Sometimes pterodactyl can be very picky about things..

Nope. Pterodactyl should start automatically. Any of your Minecraft servers that were running right at shutdown will automatically startup again and vise versa.

You would give them your public IP address. Lookup IP chicken and the big number on the site is your Public WAN address.

I would stick with ubuntu server. I run ubuntu server in minimized mode so it basically almost stripped bare. Pterodactyl works perfectly in minimized mode. Wish I had done it sooner. But if you want a challenge go for arch. Arch would run really good too performance wise. I haven't touched arch yet. You do what you want. :)

Arch is not really meant for servers, I would suggest Debian if you want a completely minimized server. But ubuntu server works just fine imo

A computer with an intel i3 i5 i7 or i9 or Amd Ryzen 5 7 or 9 processor. Stay away from server CPU’s such as Xeon or Epyc. Minecraft servers run best on high ipc and high clock speed processors. Also I wouldn’t recommend going below 8 Gb of Ram.

I actually don't have the panel itself forwarded to the outside world. I use an awesome and free VPN service called "Tailscale" to access all of my web panels in the homelab. UPDATE: I started with a fresh install of Ubuntu and did everything the same except for the ports which I had first used as 8777/2722 like you mentioned and used the default 8080/2022 and I still couldn’t get the green heart, I even installed firewalld so I could add the ports but after that my panel stopped working

@@ikhari ditched pterodatcyl switched over to Multicraft was way easier to configure than pterodactyl

Pterodactyl only works on Linux. I recommend using Ubuntu server when setting up the panel. I’ve had the least amount of problems with Ubuntu server.
