I have never built a Pc on a test bench I guess I've been lucky and everyone I have built has worked inside the case
@oceanlawnlove81095 ай бұрын
Test bench is so pointless. You're just building your PC twice. If you do it right the first time, you're good. Just don't duck up, it's not that difficult. Completely building it and then having to take it apart just to build it into the case is so goofy. It's not like when you do that some cables can't disconnect etc. it's just an extra step that can potentially even cause issues in a working build
@JohnDoe-bz4yl5 ай бұрын
@@oceanlawnlove8109 That's why I have always built inside the case
@mikesunboxing5 ай бұрын
do whatever works for you, but i would try getting a post before putting everything in and cable managing. when you build as many pc's as i do, every now and then your get a part that doesn't work, so prior testing helps to lessen the frustration

I personally would love to see, although I’ve already got this matter resolved, a video by Techtubers about software and hardware you should have to help diagnose pc problems: such as spare low end GPU (GT710) that doesn’t require pci-e power, psu tester device, spare ram, spare cpu etc spare usb key with windows 10/11 another usb with pre-downloaded antivirus / anti malware, mem test software etc.

Thank you. Not having built a computer for over ten years I’m just wondering how common it is for a pc not to boot up once the build is done on newer components. Unless you missed something obvious I’m not sure why it wouldn’t boot up? Based on your experience what have been some reasons a pc hasn’t booted up. Is is largely a loose cable?
@skystalker77005 ай бұрын
Hello! It can be a number of reasons, and a loose cable is certainly one of them. Find a good guide - like this one 😊 and follow it carefully. Building it out of the case is a really good idea, as it is MUCH easier to diagnose things. Once it boots (POST) then it is time to put it all into the case.
@martingolding49515 ай бұрын
@skystalker7700 afaulty ram stick or not properly seated in the slots are a common problem for a non boot or two different sticks .I started building pcs in 1999 and found it quite common in building them

Thanks Mike. Two days ago I didn't know it was possible to bench-test a system. Unfortunately I've completed building my system except for cable management, but absolutely nothing happens when I press the power-on button on top of the case. So I'm going to start over. I'll pull everything out of the case, put the MB, CPU, cooler and nothing else on top of the MB box, connect the PSU and then short out the power pins. (I bet the bugger will boot. Murphy in action. 😉) Subscribed.
@mikesunboxingАй бұрын
let me know how you get on with it
@SirGregoryFamilyYouTubeАй бұрын
@@mikesunboxing Well, that was surprising. I pulled everything out of the case and set up a test bench with just the essentials on the MB. Turned the PSU power on, shorted the MB power pins and my CPU fans started running. So looks like the problem was the connection between the case power switch and the MB. Now I'll try to get the BIOS running.

Thank you for another helpful video. I want to use an AIO for my first PC build end of the month. I do want to set up a motherboard test bench but it think it will be complicated with an AIO. Should I buy a cheap air cooler for the test? By the way, I just asked the same question on your discord chanel.
@mikesunboxing23 күн бұрын
either way is fine and if you want a cheap air cooler to test with the se214xt is a good choice but either way it shouldn't be too complicated for a test bench setup with an aio if you manage the cabling as you go

I made a plug in Power Switch using a momentary switch with two wires soldered to it and at the other end a modified Mobo connector that now just has 2 female pins to plug into the Mobo for the +/- posts on the Mobo.

Mike, another great video! Having trouble with bench test for updating a PC I built in 2010. Installing ASRock B650M Pro RS Wifi motherboard, AMD Ryzen AM5 8600G CPU, and two 16gb Team ram sticks. Bench test will open BIOS with either ram stick installed in B2 ram slot, but will not boot to BIOS with both ram sticks installed; just sits there with CPU and DRAM post status LEDs illuminated. I have tried: reseating processor, different combinations of ram location, reseating ram, removed CMOS battery, updated BIOS from version 3.01 to 3.06 (another great Mikesunboxing video). Help! Ideas?
