Good intro. and there is much more to getting it to actually work to a point a Skipper trusts it.I will persevere; in harbor, there is usually no hard wired land LAN connection, which is assumed in so many "install software" type videos. An RJ45 connection is like GOLD to a Cruiser.(yes, so is ICE) . Those of us that sail the seas, we accept these factors, in trade for Freedom, always. But its great to have instruments when they work....i will keep on hackin !

0:25 Listening is all cool but can it also send?

With 26 seconds left in the video you add a connection under the options tab: where does one get that information? I want to hook up a sdr but where do you get the data that gets entered (address, data port, etc)?

I found it odd too... very detailed and then just brushes over the end.

I don't see SDR VHF in the list. Only SDR AIS "coming soon". does this mean that all the parts I bought won't work now?

Can you transmit your AIS position through this arrangement?
@FlatFact4 жыл бұрын
No you need an AIS transponder ($700 plus), which needs to be registered with the appropriate authorities, and this requires your license number for VHF. So you need a radio license to transmit your position. (Which mean a radio course fee and the license fee). Very expensive to transmit a position via a radio frequency.

this sounds like a computer talking....i'd rather listen to a human!
