How to Setup Amazon Alexa with SwitchBot | How to Include SwitchBot in Alexa Routines

In this Quick Tech Tip we will be going over how to connect the SwitchBot hub to Amazon Alexa to allow for you to control your SwitchBot devices through Alexa with your voice as well as include your SwitchBot devices in Alexa routines.
This is a great way to further enhance your SwitchBot devices while also making Alexa Smarter.
You are required to have a SwitchBot hub for this procedure, you cannot connect a SwitchBot bot directly to a Amazon Alexa.

As for your question above, I have Alexa Routines to turn our bedroom lights on and off, but I just bought some SwitchBot NFC tags with the hope that they will enable me to turn the bedroom lights on and off silently, without speaking when necessary. Can you please explain how to do this, as i have not been able to figure it out. I do not have or use SB fingers, but I do have a SwitchBot MiniHub and long ago I used the hub to create "scenes" to command our living room Air Purifier by IR and I command those through Alexa "When I say…" Routines. So my SB MinHub is in the living room. How can I set up one of these SB NFC Tags to trigger my existing Alexa bedroom lights on/off by touch? (Also, could you please talk a little slower in your videos?) Show less REPLY

Great Video! I am planning to buy it for the smart thermometer function. Do you have any expirience with that? For example i want to trigger a routine when the temperature of the 'X' room is below 21 degrees celcius to turn on my ac. If you have a Smart thermometer connected is it shown up in the smart home section?

Can Alexa call temperatures from SwitchBot in Routines? I have a different brand hub and temperature sensors, and Alexa can't do it with that. That hub's company has gone under, their cloud server is permanently offline, and I am having to search for a suitable replacement. Basically, I'm using smart plugs and temperature sensors to turn window A/C and radiator heaters on and off when temperature limits are met or exceeded. I have three zones, one of which I may take this opportunity to split. I do like to use Alexa to verbally order a device to turn on and off, but automation is the primary control. Since my hub's cloud is gone, voice control via Alexa of those devices is gone.

I'm on an iPad and iPhone and I also do not see "Cloud Service" as an option. I have the SwitchBot Mini Hub connected to my SwitchBot app, and my SwitchBot app connected to my Amazon Alexa app, but I do not see a cloud service option anywhere

I think they changed the app about a month ago. I don't see it in the app at all, buth when I enable the alexa Switchum Smart in Alexa, it sees the Hub.. Unfortunately it won't discover the remote sensors... bummer will have to return.

If I already have a Broadlink RM4 hub can i use the switchbot finger unit without purchasing the switchbot cloud shaped hub and just use the Broadlink hub and app to use with Alexa?

No, in order to control a Bluetooth SwitchBot device over the Internet / with an app you have to have one of the SwitchBot hubs.

Can i use the switch on motion sensor to trigger something not switch bot? Like led kitchen lights i have

Within the alexa app I am able to select the switchbot motion sensor as a trigger and it gives two options "When motion is detected" and "when motion is not detected". Not detected includes a timer you can use within the trigger. As long as your lights (or other devices) are able to be used as actions in alexa then it would work.

I just want to connect my Alexa to my Switchbot, I already got a mini hub, and just say "Hey Alexa, turn off the lights". Not make a routine setting

Then you just have to follow the steps in the first 2 minutes of this video to get that setup (Adding the switchbot skill to alexa). After doing so you'll be able to control devices with your voice through your Alexa devices
