Balenaetcher didn't work at all for me. Tried 4 times, and failed to verify my fresh out of the box 512gb micro sd. It then split the drive into 2 partitions. I gave up

The same happened for me I dunno why.. didn’t work on nt so I tried ex fat and it solved my problem… I had to try like 4 or 5 times also but I got it done… you can too

Yeah I hear you it's a process. Retro Rager has a card that's plug and play. Little pricey but it saves a lot of time. I recently reviewed it here on the channel.

I successfully flashed the 1 tb batocera image to a 1 tb SanDisk A2 card, and when I'm able to get to the Boot Manager screen where you can select the micro sd card.... but when I do the screen just goes black and it says there pretty much forever. Hi my friend! Is that possible to delete any of the systems I don't want to see and use in Batocera, like Pc Engine and Amiga for example or it would affect Batocera System? Just in terms of organisation of the folders.

If you dont have roms in any rom folders, by default the system wont show. Also, you can delete the few freeware roms Batocera comes with, thats fine. Or, you can always choose to 'hide' a system too, say if you have roms in a certain folder but for some reason you dont want it showing, ofcourse hiding will still take up storage space.

Your os should be safe. It's operating off the SD card and only interacts within the SD card.

You said several times you'd include stuff like the bios files link or the sd card reader link in the description but did not. I can figure it out I'm jus saying. I cannot figure out where the second sd card comes into play? you say its necessary but only show one sd card the one with the batocera on it being used to load in on the deck but how on earth does it recognize the bios files that are on a seperate card when you don't show that 2nd card being used..

There's only one sd card. Not sure where you are getting 2 from? You load bios files into the bios folder on the card. Links change and with this being a slightly older video now they stopped working so I removed them.

Nothing special needs to be done. Drop them in and add your bios then you're good to go. Some collections may require some minor tweaking like ps3 your roms have to be renamed to include .ps3 extensions. Some roms need to be unzipped some don't. Depends on each emulator/game collection but for the most part what's seen here is all you need to do.

Delete the games from those systems and update your games lists. Or,if you want to keep the games but just hide certain a systems go to settings/games collection settings/systems displayed/scroll down the list and untick any system you don't want shown.

If you have batocera on the card you add the games right on there and boot the card up on your steam deck. It's completely separate from steam os.

You're going to hold down the button you make a selection with so say you want to go into Mario kart 64 just as an example navigate to the game and then hold down the button you choose the game with. This opens up a window and toward the bottom you'll see "advanced options" select that and you'll have a emulator option you can select different emulators there.

Yeah with a docking station just connect a flash drive or a sd with your roms to the docking station and drag and drop them into the files. I assume you mean using batocera.

You need a different rom. There's 2 player and 4 player versions. I forget which is which as it doesn't really make much sense since 1 version you can only be one character and the other version you can be any of the characters on there.

Each collection of games has different requirements. Some need to be unzipped some zipped. Most are going to be unzipped. Mame is zipped.

It's creates 2 partitions. The 7GB you see is the boot partition that's in fat32. The second partition is by default in ext4 which windows can't read.

I tried this but when it came to connecting to my WiFi network, Batocera would not show ANY networks. Yes, I did turn on the Deck's WiFi. I tried manually entering my SSID and password but it still would not connect. Rebooted the Steam Deck and tried again. Same results, no WiFi networks found. The Deck has no problems seeing all the networks in my area including my own when running Steam OS, but not in Batocera. Frustrating as hell.

It depends on what size image you want to create or download. I'd go with a 256gb if you want decent size collections and want to stay under 512gb. Samsung or sandisk are the only cards I'd recommend

You do either or but for those not using an adapter or docking station manually moving roms over wouldn't be possible. Many who first get their steam deck don't have that yet but want to get started so anybody can go the wifi route right from the start.
