Thanks for the info in this video man! My dad recently rescued a bearded dragon from one of his employees who definitely did not know how to take care of her (40 Gallon, one 75 watt basking bulb, nothing else). I went out and bought her a proper basking bulb, UVB bulb, temp and hygrometers, a couple of hides for her. I still have to get a UVB index reader and a couple more things along with proper husbandry so she feels safe and comfortable. Thanks again for the help. I look forward to making sure my beardie lives a happy and long life.

Hey man, really great and informative video and I just have a quick question. At 10:27 you are showcasing your light setup for your bearded dragon, but shouldn't the uvb be spread across the entire tank so that the reptile is constantly getting the uvb? Otherwise would they not be susceptible to metabolic bone disease?
@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
You can however just like outside they need to take cover from the sun and go places that don’t have uvb. The basking zone is where they go to get that heat and uvb. They will spend most time there. As long as you provide the right diet and uvb. MBD will not be a factor. So you don’t need the entire cage to have uvb. Because the time they spend in the basking zone will be more than enough to get the uvb they need. However if you don’t have the right bulb for uvb then it won’t matter how much the cage is covered they will get uvb. That’s why you definitely need a zoo med t5 ho 10.0 linear bulb or Arcadia 12% t5 ho bulb as well.

Hi. Great video, but i have questions 😂 I have 120g enclosure (3 sides are wood with screen on top and 2 glass doors in front). Tony(5 yr old) is still brumating, and I am moving in 2 weeks, so i am trying to get his new enclosure design? setup? completed, so he only has to go through one big change instead of 3 changes(new design, new lighting, and moving to a new place). He's my first beardie, and i made a lot of mistakes in the first layout that i have fixed. All my lights are on the screen top, but i want to move them inside the tank. I have a basking light, 2 ceramic heat emitters, and an Arcadia Dessert T5 12% 24 inches. I couldn't get his ambient heat high enough, so i added a heating pad on each end on the outside of the wood walls, and the temp is set to 80. I also blocked them so he could not get to them so he didn't get burnt or something. My questions are: Should i replace the heat emmitters with heat bulbs? I am terried of him not getting enough UVB. Should i get a longer one? Or a 14% instead of 12%? I have also considered getting 2 uvb and putting on near the basking spot and one in the center (long ways) of the tank. Good idea or very bad? 😅 are the heating pads still risky on the outside of the wood? I don't know if they really help. Are these inexpensive sensors trash?? Yeah the uvb shouldn’t melt it as it only gets about 90f. Just make sure the middle of the bulb is not blocked that’s the strongest uvb rays. So the middle of the uvb shouldn’t be blocked. The ends of the uvb is weaker so that’s ok

Hey man I’m having a hard time with getting the uvb light directly on his basking spot mainly because the halogen dome is so big/wide that when I use my meter the proper uvb is a little bit to the side of the basking spot. He does have more branches to climb on in the middle of the tank which has excellent uvb reedings. Do you think this is sufficient? 40gal tank for now both basking and uvb lights on top of the screen.
@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean as long as he does climb and bask on the branches with the proper uvb he will be good

Is the Arcadia 12% or 14% on top of the enclosure better for a 36x18x18 or inside the enclosure? Which would you recommend?

@ChiefSweetsUniverse Жыл бұрын
Understandable when you have a linear tube bulb like a Arcadia t5 it produces plenty of uva. Also with ambient temps of 31c you don’t have to use heat lamps for lots of species of lizard and for something like a bearded dragon you would use a very low wattage heat bulb. Like a 50 watt
