This is what my grandfather wore when he landed on juno beach. Believe it or not but when i served in the dutch army we had the same L straps, pack (on the back) and instead of the pouches we had some kind of connectors in front. Like the Brittish had. ;)) We talk 1991 here. Recently i found a surplus or army dump as tbey call it here and found some WW2 items. Next week gonna browse again. ;))

Just went down to my local surplus shop and bought two basic cartridge packs for 5 bucks! Thanks for this tutorial, it helps a lot

In WW2 commonwealth soldiers used to just slide the pouches onto the belt by putting the belt under the prongs so that you could slide the pouches wherever you needed them to be without having to unhook it every time. Btw thanks for the video you saved me hours of trying to figure out how to put it back together

Thanks, I just needed this tutorial. I'm going to refurbish my old 70ties Action men, by making ( lasercutting) the webbing from rough cotton, impregnated with PVA glue.

For some reason my shoulder strap does not have the extra bit for the other strap to slide through, and the belt does not have the holes for the prongs on the basic pouches. I've made it work regardless, but they definitely caught my eye while watching you put together your equipment.

Thank you, I'm assuming that the L straps are supposed to have some kind of buckle attachment on the end to attach a small or large pack. I have a complete webbing set as of today, but I cannot attach the large pack.

Yep the buckles are needed!

Is it okay to not have the canteen?
@KermitTheGamer21 Жыл бұрын
I know this is from a year ago but it was also common to store the canteen/water bottle in the small pack. In fact, most small packs are divided into two sections, specifically for the water bottle and the mess tin. I believe the water bottle also fits in the basic pouch if absolutely necessary.
