Two good improvements that can be made. 1. Make an adapter for the PCIe slot so it can easily be removed and replaced (kind of like a laptop dock) and 2. Have a Power supply that is more portable but will work with the graphics card. It would be neat to see someone build a dock for this .

I'm specifically interested in buying the Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk.2 for my future gaming desktop (predominantly for its multifeed feature), but I don't have the financial means yet to put the latter together. Hence I wondered, if I were to buy said capture card now, could I maybe already put it to use with my older laptop using an EXP GDC (Mini PCI-E Version)? My laptop is an Asus R556LA-XX1875T, and up until now I've managed to use it for window capturing at 720p60fps just fine. Obviously I would use the capture card to capture and stream at lower resolutions and/or framerates, until it can be integrated in the proper gaming desktop...

How do you turn it off since it is plugged to a different power supply. Because it seems that it can cause fire and damage your gpu because it uses a different power supply and the gpu will not automatically turn off when shutting down the pc

Dude usb to pcie would mean EXTREME bottlenecking considering the usb3.0 transfer rate is like 3-5gbps compared to thunderbolt 3's (recommended for eGPUs) transfer rate of 40 gbps so do yourself a favor and dont look for shit like that

Correct, However this video right here is a solution for older Laptop. If your Laptop already have Thunderbolt 3 then you can setup eGPU in less than a minute. You can use eGPU docking like in this video but you need to buy Thunderbolt to HDMI cable separately.

Of course, it is called "PSU" aka Power Supply Unit. Not "PDU" Power Draw Unit. Even if the PSU rated 2000 watt, it will only provide whatever amount of Watt needed by the GPU and eGPU docking. And no, it is never be dangerous to use high-end PSU, in fact, it is the opposite. The higher your PSU, the safer the entire components.

Good question. First of all please answer these question: Is your Laptop have Thunderbolt? Is your Laptop have dual NVMe SSD slot? Is your Laptop have dedicated GPU like Radeon or NVidia? If the last question is "yes" then you might want to take off the GPU first before installing eGPU. Otherwise it won't be detected.
