Hi, Do be aware that safety factor can either be defined by the yield point of the material or Ultimate tensile strength, for aircraft this is very important to clarify based upon which load case is being assessed, limit or ultimate cases etc.. the safety factor method is defined when assigning material properties. For clarity It may be worth highlighting the equation used in your code for assessing the safety factor since aircraft use either reserve factors or margins of safety, depends if your in the USA or EU which you use.

I currently design and fabricate using tradition methods. But this sort of thing is really interesting. Even if I were to fabricate these brackets with manual machining techniques, the generated designs would be a great starting point to layout a more typical shape without all the complex curves. I want to start using the free version for some personal projects to get a feel for the software. If I decide to use this commercially, how much does the licence cost that includes the generative design functions?

Hi Lars... I posted this in a previous video and am reposting this here just in case you didn't see it. I'm hoping that you might be able to answer this question on your next video. Question... I have a number of engineers and designers viewing and querying a design and every time they exit the file Fusion saves the file by default and also sends an email to the team causing much fear that the design has been altered when in reality, it's just been viewed and components have been turned on and off, etc. Is there a way to exit a design (model) without Fusion automatically saving it and creating a new version? Thanks in advance. Pete

We're currently not using Fusion Team, could you possibly do a live stream on collaboration, version (revision) control in the future? It's possible that you've already made a video on this topic so I'll hunt around and see if I can find something. Re: my above question... A couple awesome Fusion users pointed me in the right direction and the team currently has auto-save on exit unchecked so that if someone opens up a model to view/query... it now prompts them to exit without saving.

the generative design function is sold seperately from Fusion 360 and needs to be purchased with 'normal' Fusion 360 license.

Hi Lars. Awesome video thank you. I'm currently working on a bulkhead for one of our robots. I wondered why would you need separate load cases as I start one and add all the forces in it. Should I be doing a separate load case for every separate force? Also I really want the part to be as close to 1.4kg as possible. I have set the loads, material, and objective with a SF of 1 but the parts start to balloon and have safety factors above 2 to achieve this. Am I doing something silly?

PAYING USERS THAT'S BULL, LET US USE OUR OWN GPUS OR CPUS TO DO THE WORK

right? they let you use your own GPU for simulations.. not everyone has a crappy computer. i wouldn't mind if it took a couple hours to do the work. i can always sli and overclock.
@mcbrite4 жыл бұрын
@@darkshadowsx5949 Guys, that's pretty naive... There is a buttload of possible reasons why that wouldn't even work... 1st if it makes use of a super computer... Then your computer won't do ANYTHING, no matter how much time you give it... Incompatible... Second: If it uses the kind of processing power your end-user rig does not have... So you may not be talking "a couple of hours", but a couple of months instead... Third: If the design process is proprietary... Then they would not trust you with the code... They keep it in house and you just send the input and receive the output. and... and... and... Long story short: No, you likely can't just SLI and generate this type of stuff in minutes on your private i5.... ^^

Hi Thompson david Thank you for watching! Well the truth is that I don't know. I am pretty low on the list of who gets to make that decision :-) What I do know: Generative is a little different than other parts of the software, as it actually has a cost on Autodesk everytime a study gets created. I also know that major universities, Like MIT are getting commercial licenses so they can get access to Generative. One could see a scenario where if free to students, you could have someone generate study upon study resulting in a huge cost.

Please can we have that magic GENERATE button in the free version.. please !!
@cadcamstuff5 жыл бұрын
First, I am pretty low on the food chain when it comes to decision making. But, there is a cost to Autodesk every time a generative process is run because it is solved on the cloud. One of the reasons it is only in the commercial version.
@industrialpunk10885 жыл бұрын
Lars Christensen Yeah, this is one way of funding the cost of server time... but, maybe if Autodesk could monetise the results of each generative solve via improvement to algorithms and better data for research / development then free users could help supply the data needed. Just a thought. It’s easy to see the potential of this and would be great to have it democratised.

@@cadcamstuff Uhm...high demand for this made autodesk a bit greedy. Thats the true reason. Or they just greedy by default:-)

Hello Sir . I want to ask , the design shape we get from generative can be manufactured by only 3d printing , or is there any otherway to get manufactured ? Thanks in Advance . 😄
@davelnewton5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the design. Printing certainly provides the *easiest* mechanism, but ultimately the means of creation is orthogonal to how the design was created.

Lars, why is every second video you post deleted and the re-uploaded? All people that get notifications will receive the first one, put it into watch later list etc and then see it has been deleted only to get the next notification with the same video but different ID

I believe he explained that near the start of the video: It seems YT introduces a lag between audio and video in recorded live streams, so he uploads the local version instead.
