How to setup the C Crane CC WiFi Radio

I am setting up the CC WiFi Radio using a WPA wireless password. You do not need to enter a password if your router is not setup for one. Setup is fairly simple.

This is hands down the best wifi radio out there. It picks up wifi signals with no sweat and uses the Receiva platform which has tons of stations. 99 presets just isn't enough.

You can use any self powered computer speakers, just plug them into the audio line output jack on the back. I have mine plugged into my home stereo equipment for bigger sound. It works great as a componant piece.

Even though your setup demonstration has no verbal instructions, it answered my questions and I was able to get things working quite fast. It's a decent radio, but I wish it had some of the newer algorithms that many stations seem to now be using. Does anyone know of updates for that? Thanks for a helpful video.

I'm thinking about buying this but my biggest concern is that it will go out of date and become largely unusable within a year, two or three. My guess is that regular updates on the part of the manufacturer would be necessary to keep it working over the long term but if it's already losing functionality that's a red flag. What newer algorithms are you referring to?

4/28/18, I have this CC wifi unit, ~ 2yrs. Having just upgraded my xfinity gateway, although I use the same network, I had to change the wifi password......not so easy......when you don't know --- or forgot how; that little (-) on the screen was giving me a hard time, it took me a couple hrs to figure out that dash/hyphen (-) had to be directly in the center of the screen as you load your characters to the left & hit END. I was getting frustrated & ready to chuck it......until good ol' YT saved the day.

Any Wireless B or G router should work. These are pretty cheap and you should be able to find them at any electronics store like Radio Shack. I usually recommend old reliable Linksys WRT54G router

I love my wifi cc radio. I have 2. I have had them for a while ( 1 for a couple of years- the other about 7 months ). At times I have to disconnect to regain the connection. Simple radio to use. I'm experiencing an issue. I have the same 3 radio stations programmed on both radios. They have been programmed the same for a long time. One radio is outside the other I keep in my kitchen. All 3 stations come through fine outside. Just today 8/19/2020 - one of the stations I have programmed on the kitchen radio decided not to be connectable. The outside radio is playing that particular station just fine. Go figure. However, the kitchen radio says that the station is not connecting. The other 2 stations are playing well. So I decided to reprogram that particular station on the kitchen radio. It still doesn't connect. The home computer is in a room next to the kitchen. I can get that particular station on the computer and on the outside cc wifi radio. What else can I try? Any help is greatly appreciated. I need my cc radios! Thank you.

@@craigsvideos6868 Well, I miss being able to use the CC radio and have gone on to Ocean Digitals' version of an internet radio. It's too bad someone didn't salvage the content provider. Life? Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the Original CC WiFi Internet radio in this video will no longer function as designed due to the Reciva service is no longer active.

Yes, the radio uses non-volatile memory which means all settings and presets will be retained indefinitely even if the power is interrupted.

Unfortunately, yes. Reciva just recently shut down all of their servers and are now out of business.

The CC Wifi does not allow you to choose a radio to listen to. You only have to listen to the radios suggested by the device. This is absurd. It's useless.

Actually, there's a search you can use if the desired station is not shown. This was my case when looking for KUSC 91.5 in Los Angeles. Entering "KUSC" in the "search" it found them in about 5 seconds. I selected it and now have KUSC on my C. Crane thingy. The C.Crane model I have seems to be limited in the amount of algorithms it will work with, though. Because of this I am having to listen to KUSC in .mp3 mode - not my first choice, but quite acceptable and enjoyable when sitting at my desk while I work.

I have one of these. It wo't play more than 5 minutes due to software lock ups. The customer support is non existent. Avoid this radio!

This unit does not say if it has bluetooth, how do I connect it to my stereo receiver over the air, I dont want use a flimsy wire to go from the units output to my receivers input..smh

Thank you for your comment. Our CC WiFi Internet Radio does not include Bluetooth capability. However, we have had customers where they purchased a Bluetooth Transmitter that has a 3.5mm (1/8") connector which can connect to the Line-Out or Headphone jack of our radio. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT waste your money on this piece of junk, I just threw mine in the trash. Bad enough the cheap remote doesn't work and if you want stereo you have to run it through your stereo system (the unit is one speaker mono), and their is no bluetooth. Since I purchased it after listening to a station, after 10 minutes, it shuts down and reverts back to the main menu and you have to start from scratch to reprogram it, it cannot even stay connected and my WIFI is 5 feet away, my friend just bought one from Amazon and is having the same problems. I am using my smartphone now, no problems, great reception, never drops, bluetooth and better selection. This unit is a disgrace, I contacted C Crane and they offered no help, so beware of this internet radio.

Sorry to hear that the sound quality of your CC WiFi 3 Internet Radio is not good. Have you tried changing the EQ settings? If no help, please contact C Crane and ask for Technical Service. We would be happy to assist you in troubleshooting or to replace the radio.

You have to have a computer,internet service,.and pay for expensive internet radio. The internet service you have to pay for monthly. No thanks. This video was a waste of time. The clown on the video is just trying to get views. Mission accomplished.
