Looks like this won't work with a lot of trailers because the sticker would be blocked by the tongue jack. I know on mine, I would have to put the sticker in the bottom of the propane tank rack to get it back far enough and the tanks themselves might also block the view of the camera. Could you get it to work by placing the sticker on the base of the tongue jack? Seems to me this is just an exercise in geometry where you are trying to get a certain angle between the centerline of the trailer and the centerline of the truck and the camera is able to determine when that angle is achieved by your measurements and how far the image of the trailer has shifted to the side at the given distance from the camera. The camera's view of a horizontal surface at that distance is at about a 45 degree angle so it's view of the base of a tongue jack will also be at a 45 degree angle.

You measure to the middle (center point) of the two axles. If you have more than two axles, you measure to the middle of all of the axles.

Yes, I know a few that have mounted a bracket to the side of the tongue to place the sticker because of the tanks.

When setting up the trailer back up system, one of the measurements is from the tailgate to the middle of the axel of the trailer. But where do you measure if it’s a triple axel trailer? Do you use the middle axel?

What if my trailer tongue isn’t wide enough for the sticker? Can you cut the sticker to make it narrower?

I you can attach a platform for the sticker, using ziptie, U bolt, weld, glue.... The sticker is for computer to see, as long as your measurements are not to far off you should be fine.

It seems all the video's that show the Back Up Assist, just back up a trailer into a spot. They do not show backing up something between two or four cones. That is what I would like to see, because then it shows me if it can be backed up to a specific site. My concern is I'm new to Trucks, and I'm thinking of buying a 25 foot Airstream. The Airstream dealership uses Ford 150 Trucks and rents them out so you can leave the dealership with a Camper even if you do not own a truck. They also told me to buy a truck that can tow easily 13K Pounds because if I later choose a larger Airstream like the 30 foot one, I would not have to buy a bigger truck to tow it with. So, I'm considering a new 2019 Ford 150 with a Towing Package. Can it tow 13K Pounds, and does the Back up Assist make it easier for somebody that has never backed up anything to back up a 25 foot Airstream? If not a Ford 150, what? 250, 350, Gas or Diesel? Dave, this video will show you how the Pro Trailer Back Up Assist in action kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5nHnZmdfJVnsKs. We didn't have cones setup but it should give you a good idea of how it works. As for your other question pulling something up to 13K pounds will need some power. We would recommend a Ford Super Duty with either a 6.2 gas or 6.7 diesel engine. Both engines will have the pulling power you need. The Ford Super Duty doesn't have Pro Trailer Back Up Assist but it does have Dynamic Hitch Assist. This won't steer the wheel for you but it will show you a projected path of your trailer while backing up. Eide Ford sells the most Super Duty's in our market and we'd be happy to help. Eide Ford Lincoln I decided that I will not go longer than 25 feet, and that is 7,500. I’m now looking at either the Ford 150 King or Platinum...could they tow that weight plus the truck’s weight?

There are four engines available on the F-150, six trims and several body options. The most basic engine is a 3.3L V6, which produces 295 horsepower, allowing for a tow rating of 7,600 pounds, which bests other competitors when equipped with their basic V6 engines. The next step up is a 2.7L turbocharged V6 that makes 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. A bigger 3.5L turbocharged V6 makes 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, helping the F-150 rate a class-leading towing spec of 12,200 pounds (if you wanted that extra power you mentioned this would be a good choice). But I'm not sure why you would mislead people in to thinking the 5.0L V8 is top of the line, when the 3.5L V6 TT is the actual top of the line(as Ford charges a significant premium for it over the V8). And is the engine with the highest towing capacity.

Great video!!! I just bought a 2018 Ford F150 and I also bought a 35 ft Jayco Jay Flight Travel Trailer. Question and hopefully you can answer it; Will the back up assist work with this trailer? It has a conventional tongue hook up.

CJS309, you may have some issues placing the sticker properly on the trailer. If the trailer has propane tanks, you may not have enough room for the sticker. If there is enough room for the sticker you should be able to setup the system. Of course you'll want to test everything after it's setup. Happy towing and enjoy the camper.
