@@underseavision6771 tough sell. They do a lot of cool thinks with their routers like doing speed tests on their side to troubleshoot a persons internet service. This special software also allows them to connect to the cable boxes with ease. Nope you cannot plug phone cables into the modem. The old Plain Old Telephone Service that Verizon provides are ONLY off of the telephone port on the ONT/modem. So you have no choice but to run phone cable to that ONT (inside or outside), relocate the ONT, or use some other phone service like Ooma which provides phone service thru the internet (hence the Ethernet port on the router)

You would have to put your own router in the garage or run your own Ethernet cable from the garage to wherever you want. Switching from coax to Ethernet (for your router) is as easy as a quick call to FiOS tech support. You could buy a simple long Ethernet cable from Amazon and run it along the baseboards & pick up cable staples/hammer clips at home depot but Verizon techs if they come out can do this no problem for you and quick if it’s too complex

Thanks for the video, it got me thinking about my FIOS issues. I’ve had two techs come out and they were unable to resolve the issues. I have Verizon for both TV and internet. Added internet after dropping Cox. So I have a G1100 Fios router. From the ONT, have a Coax cable plugging into the G1100 and also an Ethernet cable. I have a cat5e patch cable going from one of the LAN ports on the G1100 to another router (Turris Omnia). In turn, I have a 24-port gigabit ethernet switch plugged in the Omnia. With everything plugged in, I don’t get anything coming up for OnDemand videos with FIOS. But when I unplug the cat5e patch cable from the back of the G1100, On Demand comes back, but then no internet. Thoughts on this? BTW, my wireless is horrific. If I literally stand right by the G1100, can’t connect phones to the wireless network.
@AMPTechGrade3 жыл бұрын
Look at your connections. ONLY put ONE Ethernet cable going from routers LAN port to switch. And don’t have a network cable connecting from one port to another port on the same switch, that creates a network storm where nothing will work. Also what kind of phone are you using?
@AMPTechGrade3 жыл бұрын
Also I forgot you’ve got 2 different routers. What features do you need from your router? Verizon routers are really good, try a Speedtest from your PC hardwired to the G1100.

I’m confused. If this is an antenna to boost wifi signal like how some routers have external antennas, nope that’s not the intent and will not work.
