according to audiocontrol the epicenter should be installed before anything else, this allows to properly analyze full spectrum harmonics and better, cleaner bass restoration after that you woould feed that signal into the dsp's sub input and tune from there

I like to have my epi at the front of the signal chain as an input option into the head unit, in front of all crossovers, you have to be careful of your gain set up as the epi can be set to overdrive the inputs, but this allows for the full effect of the epi circuitry to be applied and let the crossovers direct those effects through the speakers as best applied via crossovers. You can adjust crossovers in the head unit or along the chain to achieve a variety of effects. sometimes a narrow band of Epi effects is desired sometimes a wider range of effects sounds better. just my two cents, I prefer to have full range into the epi for sure with options to narrow the frequencies if desired. Thanks for the insights, good info.

An epicenter can't over drive your signal. It puts out what goes on. The jumpers in the epicenter limit voltage. If you have it on the 5 volt jumper it won't allow anything over 5 volts out. This is done for safety for your amps and subs.

Very good explanation!!! Couple of issues I'm having though with DSPs and Epicenters/bass processors. I have a Stetson Bluetooth processor that I'm considering installing before my preamps to clean up the sound from the head unit before any further amplification. I'll have 4 channels of selectable A, B and AB outputs (or combined as 2 since 1 output has to be split to connect an amp from one output. Meaning 1&2 would be a left and right if used straight). Using it this way I could tune channel 1 however I like and run it to the preamp let's say on the right input, #2 however would be on the left input both controlled by the preamp fader as a mids and highs preamp. Channels 3 and 4 would go to the inputs of the second preamp for midbass/midrange and bass. I think this would increase my tuning capabilities. I also think DSPs have the same features as Epicenters. Select the frequency in the parametric EQ (sweep), adjust it's Q (wide), boost or cut, adjust gain, etc. with tons of more tuning options. The preamps I use have subsonic filters from 30-300hz.

I was under the impression Epicenter goes before DSP. Maybe You are assuming the DSP only has 2 inputs. Mine is 4x8 I'm gonna go sub outputs to epicenter and then epi to ch 3 and 4 on the DSP. I'm not sure what range my Alpine sub out does. It is in "defeat" mode though. I'll have to test it. DSP handles all the crossover, eq, delay. So I still get Sub level adjustment, plus the Epi knob.

Using a pioneer avh head unit (avh 4800bs) do i use the sub channel or front or rear rca to go in to the epicenter? Not sure which is the right way: using sub channel with the low pass off on the hu or the front or rear rca with the low/high pass off ? What im confused about is if i use the sub channel with low pass off on the hu, will it allow all frequencies to pass or since its a sub channel does it only allow like 15hz to 250hz range since its the sub channel vs the front or rear which may be 15hz to 10000khz? Hope u can answer. Thanks

I have a question. I have a AM head unit, speakers, amps and a DSP. I don't want to use the inferior crossover of the amplifier. Will I use the 250 hz crossover point of the DSP into the epicenter and then to the amplifier? The DSP has a cx slope of 24db, L-R, respectively. I love that! I believe if I use the 12db cx of the amp, it will be additive, resulting in 36 db/octave. It's a kicker amp, DXA 1200.1.

You can do that but the most important thing is that you have to feed the epicenter an unfiltered signal. If the eq have a low pass crossover that can't be turn off, then you're not gonna send a full range signal to it.

Hi Sir. Thank you so much for posting the video. Please advise. I can't get my subwoofer to produce 20Hz bass; it still has punchy bass, which I don't want. Should I use an aftermarket cross over like "boss" to get the 20Hz wavy bass? I have a 12 inch, 2000watt Pioneer sub in ported box (responsive to 20Hz) with a dedicated Pioneer mono block 1000Hz amp in my car. The remaining midranges and tweeters each have their own 6 channel pioneer amplifier. Finally, I have a graphic equalizer. Please advise, sir, if I should get a cross over I, and tune it to 20zHz ? I have tried using several graphic equalizers, but none of them had a 20Hz bass knob to enable this kind of bas.s

I have a question about the RCAs. My aftermarket head unit has Front Out, Rear Out and Sub Out. (Stinger Heigh10) My DSP (PRV Audio 2.8x) has A and B inputs and 8 outputs. I then have three amplifiers (all mono amps); 1 for Tweeters, 1 for Mids and 1 for Subs. How would you run the RCAs? A 6-channel RCA from the Head Unit to the DSP? If so, where would you connect the six channel RCA on the DSP? Would you then run individual 2 Channel RCAs to go from each output to the specific amplifier? What about the remote turn on? How would you run that? A single run from the Head Unit to the DSP? Then three individual runs from each amp to the DSP? I need a lot of help lol
@InsulinAdikt3 жыл бұрын
You need to do more research. It is obvious to me that you haven't even read the manual for your dsp. Start there. Also, you need a 4 channel amp for those tweeters and mids. Mono amps aren't meant to be used for speakers where you will have a left and right input. I wouldn't even try to install a system with your current level of knowledge. It doesn't sound like you have any clue how car audio works. I recommend this channel, as well as caraudiofabrication. Mark from CAF makes really good short instructional videos that are well explained.
