I just saw my first video from you two and wanted to thank you for the straight forward information. My husband passed away 5 yrs ago and our dream was to travel the US when he retired and he wasn't able to travel due to illness. I vowed to make the trip for us both and your videos are making it possible for me to get my nerve up to be alone on the road!!! thank you for so much simple info without all the extra stuff!!! Another KZbin video I watched they suggested using the surge protector before you do anything else leveling, etc. That way, if the power is bad, you can quickly move to a new spot. Otherwise, you’ve just spent all that time leveling and now have to move. Love the set-up video.....1 week away from our first RV and have really enjoyed all of the KZbinrs videos. Thank you!

Also surge protectors protect you from surges but won’t help if low voltage is present. It would be nice if they would also regulate the output voltage to 120 and 240.

On your electric connection: AFTER I check that there is power to my surge protector, I turn off the power and then hook-up completely to the RV. Then, I turn the power back on (when all is connected, and no 'power end' is loose/unconnected). Just a safety concern on my part. On the sewer prep: yes, great mention to keep the black/gray water stuff in a separate container. I also use a separate plastic bin, one for fresh water and one for gray/black water. I will 'lift' drain my fresh-water hose to drain as much water as possible, then coil the hose(s) and connect the hose(s) end-to-end to each other, to prevent them draining into the container. (I do the same with the sewer hose.) That way, I keep seepage in the storage containers to a minimum. I have also drilled (1/4"-3/8") multiple holes into the tops of these storage containers (both the fresh AND the sewer) to allow air dissipation of any moisture. If you are a full-time RV-er, you might want to "clean-flush" your sewer hoses with some regularity. If you are an intermeitant RV-er (like me), I will "clean-flush" my sewer hoses when I get home, let them dry, then connect them end-to-end and put them in their storage box.
@RVBlogger4 жыл бұрын

I'm a veteran camper, haven't gone RVing before (have a trip planned this fall), but one thing I immediately spot that might be of use to someone is with the water setup; if you plan on lighting a fire at all, you'll want to make sure you bring a bucket with you and keep it about 3/4 full of water at all times just in case of a fire emergency (and also make sure your ashes are completely cold out before you leave your site). So when you're doing your clean outs of the water line, go ahead and spray the dirty water into the bucket. Dirty water will put out a fire just as well as clean water, and that way you don't let it go to waste.

I watched KZbin videos for years before buying our RV. You can find out how to do just about anything from the creative people who post videos and I thank all of you. The very first thing we do after we pull into a campsite is check to make sure the water and electric work. It's a real inconvenience to find out that the pedestal is wired wrong , no electricity or there is no water and have to move to a different site after you hooked up everything. This happened to me, but luckily, we were able to plug into the empty pedestal at the vacant site next to us until the campground maintenance fixed ours.

Great video... really informative and somewhat simple. I've just moved into a 2017 Class C and really love it. So much to learn as the electrical connection stopped working due to a rainstorm and it's too early to run the generator. Thank goodness the heat still works!! I'll be dry camping soon and will check out your other videos to see if one helps. All the best to you both. Oh one more thing is I'm a single gal (almost a senior) and would love tips on camping alone. thanks

Thank you for your EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE VIDEO. I am as GREEN as they come when it comes to RV’s. My wife and I just purchased our FIRST EVER RV- a Class C 2016 Thor Chateau. Despite having an Owner’s Manual and a “quickie” learning session from the original owner, trying to remember all of the information was a bit challenging, not to mention overwhelming. I came across your channel, and your “How-To” list of videos for Newbies STRICTLY BY CHANCE / ACCIDENT, and I must tell you, your videos are truly a blessing for ANY RV Rookie! You simplified the process of the set-up steps so much and took the anxiety completely out of the equation. Thanks to your videos, you have showed me yet another way I can truly enjoy my newfound retirement and given me the confidence to say I made the RIGHT DECISION in making this RV purchase. Again, Thank you. I have subscribed to your channel and will look up your FB Group later tonight! 👌

Hi there -- we've been out a few years between a pop up and now a travel trailer camper -- been looking around to get some tips and hacks to make the travel easier -- The one thing that I picked up and would share is wehn you are getting in the site with a slide - you didn't address this in your video - - most people use a tape measure -- what I do now is = I have a peice of 1x2 painted orange that is 6 in longer than the distance from my tires to the end of the extended slide - so before you back in (or pull through) put the 1x2 down at the closest obstacle and keep the wheels to the outside of the 1x2 and boom!! there you are placed with enough room for the slide . Just a thought to make set up a bit easier -- Happy Travels
