I've watched many a video over the years and hands down yours are the easiest and the most clear to understand with the spoken word and visuals. A definite go to for my daughters who are just learning thank you for sharing your wisdom and patience

I think this could be interesting for jacket pockets. Or, a handbag pocket. I have no idea how you manage a straight zipper with all the pins. I almost gave up on zippers until I tried doing them without pinning. When I started using Wonder Tape, instead of pins, my stitches and zippers improved significantly - didn't have to use the seam ripper at all.

+chesh kat yes, wonder tape is wonderful but in this case I was out. I like the idea you had for using this for pockets :)

That is a great idea and it might work well for bags the have exposed zippers. I do, however, believe that it would be easier to use Dritz double sided wash away tape instead of pins for the whole process!

Is the seam allowance at the zipper still 5/8"? I don't get it....I need to practice this because it looks very interesting. What about using satin bias tape? Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving!
@ProfessorPincushion9 жыл бұрын
+rac rac yes, it's all still a 5/8" seam allowance. The top part of the fabric is folded a little more than 5/8" because I account for the amount of the zipper teeth that is shows in the end. If you want to see more about the math that goes into it, watch our exposed zipper tutorial. It's pretty similar, just no bias tape. Yes, you can totally use satin bias tape, it just makes it easier if it's all prefolded like mine. :)

+Professor Pincushion thanks Professor! I have prefolded satin bias tape, so I'll let you know
@levoldunom8 жыл бұрын
what was the size/width/? of the bias tape? Thanks for the upload.
@ProfessorPincushion8 жыл бұрын
it's the double folded bias tape, (not the extra wide) so the finished width is 1/4"

The Prof is very good and makes everything looks very easy. However, this is way, way too fiddly, and I know there is 0% chance I could pull this off neatly. I would wind up with a mess. And to be honest, the end result doesn't really seem to add a lot of effect.
