It’s been 8 years since I first enjoyed this video. One of my sweet friends is expecting his first great-grandson in a few weeks. How cute will this be when I make a few with baby fabric on back and sneak in on w/ a piece of his great grandpa’s old jeans on the back? I’m so jazzed about this that I went to Joann’s and got a yard of terry chenille so I can make today. Yours is my favorite pattern.

Thanks for another great video! I've actually made a few burp cloths and had a couple of tips that I use. I use slightly rounded corners on both fabrics-makes turning right side out a little easier, no points to fuss with and stack multiple layers of both backing fabric and top fabric so you can use your cutting mat and rotary cutter to make the process a little quicker. I would cut backing fabric in one stack and cute front fabric in another. Happy stitching!

I have seen that video also. I think they were trying to be funny and missed the mark. The examples they gave were poorly made/beginner projects that weren't useful, not beautiful heirloom items or useful well made gifts, or at least that is how I interpreted it.

Hi Dana, love your videos. I'm still pretty new to sewing. I was wondering can you sew with knit and terry chenille. I have a lot of knit fabric and I just order chenille. Also, do I need to prewash these fabrics first. Thank you for your time. Pam
@MADEEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pam, Yes, you can use knits or terry chenille for the backing, or terry cloth! Just keep in mind that knit fabrics have a tendency to stretch, so you'll want to be very careful not to stretch the fabric as you sew. If you've never sewn with knits before I have a great video you might watch first: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYqsanR9bNWCiMU As for pre-washing.....Typically I pre-wash fabrics so they shrink before I sew them into something. BUT in this instance, I don't like to do that, because I like how the two layers of the burp cloth look when they "shrink up" together the first time....kind of like making a quilt. :) Hope that helps! I was wondering how you keep the chenille from stretching as you sew? I am using flannel as the top layer. Is there something else I can use?
@MADEEveryday Жыл бұрын
It may depend on what type of chenille you're using...mine is woven and doesn't stretch very much. Maybe try using terry cloth fabric instead? Play around with which fabric is on top, or under. Depending on how "stretchy" it is...it will feed through your machine differently
