How to sew a buttonhole (Bernina 3A Buttonhole Foot)

The Bernina 3A buttonhole foot is used to create buttonholes in garments, bags, and home furnishings. This automatic buttonhole foot will create as many of the identically sized buttonholes as you need.
This buttonhole foot is for Bernina sewing machines. This foot comes with a lens sensor to ensure each buttonhole is made the same size. It also has a sliding guide to set the size of your buttonhole and a red guide mark to make it easy to be sure your buttonhole is created the correct length. This buttonhole foot can also create corded buttonholes.
With the touch of one button (reverse) it sets the length of the buttonhole. After that, buttonholes will be made the same size until you reset the machine or turn it off.
This automatic buttonhole feature makes it perfect to use to create buttonholes on a garment or other project that needs more than one of the same size buttonhole.

Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial! For anyone with a Bernina Virtuosa 153, the instructions in the manual for this foot are incorrect, so here's how to use this foot on that machine: 1. Attach your 3A foot 2. Choose the buttonhole stitch (on my machine it's button No.9) 3. Press the 'other' reverse button - NOT QUICK REVERSE like it says in the manual. There's another reverse button towards the top of the machine that has both the reverse symbol and buttonhole symbol. 4. The words 'auto' will flash on screen to show it's in auto buttonhole mode. 5. Sew your buttonhole using the red guides like the lovely lady in the video. Thank you again for this video!

I don’t see what hole you are putting bobbin thread through

Hi Cindy, sorry that is blurry in that part of the video because I held the bobbin chase too close to the camera. If you look at your bobbin chase, there is a hole at the end of the little bit that sticks out and you thread through that hole.
