Miss Sew shows how to sew a contour dart. These are sometimes called Double Pointed Darts or Fish Eye Darts and are diamond shaped.
You can see my other videos on how to sew Single Point Darts and French Darts.

Thank you very much for this helpful and very needed advice, but one thing still bothers me, and it´s in every video of everybody on KZbin and no one ever addresses it (properly). So if I understand it, I just leave the frilly back of the dart bothering me by frothing on my naked skin? Can´t I just trim it away? Why not? I have big sensory issues with tags scratching my skin, and this is basically the same thing - it´s just going to remind me every single second that there is a frilly thing inside my trousers, and I won´t be comfortable enough. Which means that I will never wear the piece of clothing with the dart, anyway. So it´s work good for nothing, if I can´t wear it. How do I make the back of the dart not flappy? I hate scratchy things. Besides, I will end up having to iron this damn flap every single time I wash the clothing with the dart. Thank you very much for answering me.

Hi - I'm glad you found the video useful. Generally speaking, a dart would only be trimmed away if it was formed in a bulky fabric, so some of the fabric could be trimmed away around the stitching line to allow the fabric to lie flatter once pressed. You could choose to trim off some of the fabric in lighter weight fabrics, but this could cause the fabric to fray where it has been cut. You can of course edge finish the fabric that you've cut, but this would probably be more irritating to the skin than just leaving the dart uncut. One option could be to line a garment so that you have another flat layer of fabric next to your skin, rather than the flap of the dart. Or, wear something under the garment, like a vest or slip to put a layer between you and the dart.

If it's on bottoms, you could add facing around the top edge to make it more comfortable or use iron-on seam binding or interfacing.

If it’s trimmed that leaves an unfinished edge Pinking shears or overlock might work or bias tape Some fabrics are ok and won’t unravel
