www.madeeveryd...
Diaper covers are the cutest thing....next to a baby's bum. They look darling under a dress, or paired with a shirt, or just on their own with all that naked baby chub. And they work well for boys and girls!
I'm going to show you two ways to make a diaper or nappy cover. First we'll make a basic cover, then we'll mix it up and add bias tape at the legs and waistband.
And guess what? You only need a 1/2 yard of fabric!
Let's get started....
Dana

Thank you Dana for renewing my love of sewing! Back in the early '70's I made alot of my high school clothes with a Sears sewing machine. When I recently retired from work, I treated myself to a new machine. I'm so happy to have found your channel here. You make the sewing world so enjoyable. I've lived in Phoenix for over 50yrs and can relate to your love of citrus colors. I want to tell you that I've made 8 of these diaper covers for my granddaughter (4 of each type). I prefer the bias tape ones because there's less pressing (no more burned fingers with ironing so close to the edge as I fold under) and actually the bias tape version seem to come out more accurate. I'm so good at moving the elastic through the casing that sometimes the other end disappears. I need to slow down my shimmy :) I found that using a safety pin at both ends prevents that. I also use a safety pin at my start/stop instead of double pins (less pins to poke my fingers). Thank you for all your tutorials! I'm excited to sew many more items, thanks to you!

You are the best. I love that you do simple projects (or you make them seem simple) that we need for 'everyday' life. You make sure to go over every step carefully and for a beginner like me, that is heaven sent! I'm slowly getting over my fear of sewing and have started a few projects and now I can't stop. Thank you.

I needed to make a gold diaper for my Grandson for his valentines Cupid photo shoot. I searched for videos and decided to watch yours first. Well that was a very good decision, your video is great. Very clear and easy to follow. I downloaded the pattern and got to work. I had to work with a horrible fabric, it was gold lame. I’m not experienced at sewing clothing items but I watched your video again at each step and it turned out great. I made it in an evening. Very happy. Thanks for making a great video! I wish I could post a pic of the finished item to show you. 😃

I've been making burp cloths and bibs for 2 new born babies. I am going to try this diaper cover and see if they will fit. I'm not good at "adding/subtracting" on material so hope they will fit. Your videos are so easy to follow. I've watched about every one of them. Thank you so much for all your help. I'm not a seasoned sewer so your videos have helped me a lot. God bless.

I remembered making some of the 0-3 mths and 3-6mths for my niece when she was a newborn and her mom loved it sooo much she had her wearing them regularly, because they covered her diaper and looked sooo cute, that it was even used for their next daughter as well. I think I need to try the 1 with the bias tape next

Thank you so much for your videos! I really wanted a sewing machine because I just had a little girl but when I got it I just sat there looking at it like um.. now what? Ha! No one in my family could teach me how to sew. Now I am excited to make one of these for my little girl tonight (If I remember to bring the pattern print-out home). Please keep making videos I love them they are so helpful! Also, very jealous of the auto-cut machine. My hubby says I have to prove I'm going to use it before we spend money like that haha!

Hi Dana, thanks for the tutorial! The covers are gorgeous. I read the other comments and not many have a problem with the tabs so I must be doing something wrong. At the crotch, it’s okay. My problem is at the side. I had to reap the seams to be able to pass the elastic. And I find it easier to sew at 3/8 of an inch as me on your website. I don’t give up! Nevertheless, have a great day! 😎🌸

Hi Dana, thanks for the pattern for the diapers. I think I may have an old one as it does not have those little tabs to fold down for the leg elastic. Never mind. My question is: the 13 inches leg elastic (12-24mth) seems too long. It measures the leg length without having to stretch the elastic, so the legs are baggy. Am I missing something please? Thank you.
