Hey Fabs,
In this video I'm going to challenge myself to make a gown for just $20 bucks. I'm taking you fabric shopping with me at my local fabric store called Save-A-Thon (Google Search for locations) to see, if I can find some high quality fabric for less. Hope you enjoy this video and stay tune for part 2.. The making!

Okay... I know for a FACT..... You are super busy doing your thing... But PLEASE continue your challenge series that you started... They are just amazing!!! I am a very seasoned Professional "Mantua" and sewing instructor. However I love to tell my students about you! You are much younger than I am and showing them your sense of style and how you manipulate fabric, your energy and the shops helps me keep the younger generation of sewers filled with motivation... Sew see.. You are now.... REQUIRED reading for graduation in my class !!!! lololol

Last summer we lost everything to a large forest fire. One of the first things I replaced was my sewing machine. One of my dearest friends immediately helped with a fabric stash. Four boxes full! Some beautiful fabrics also. I haven't sewn garments in a very long time. I was just quilting instead. Just before the fire I was planning on getting back into it and organizing everything so I could. Funny how life is. I'm better off now than before the fire! Blessed is what we are. Very very blessed.

the fabric at 4:12 and the silver before it were gorgeous. you should have done a gown with the metallic black/green/blue though. that would have been incredible and you could have sold it for quite a bit. i would have bought it if it was cut and styled right. all those prices were outrageously cheap. here in canada, ontario specifically you can't find anything that cheap.

A really great alternative to rolled plastic boning is zip ties (or cable ties-whatever you want to call them). They're nice and flat, sturdier than traditional plastic boning, and they're machine washable. Oh, and ridiculously inexpensive.
