Cynthia Renae, I am so grateful to find this simple satin pillowcase with French seams. It's exactly what I was looking for. My son's girlfriend is going through chemo, and I wanted to make her this to protect her hair when she sleeps. Thank you! Jan.

I’m making my version of the expensive Blissy Satin pillow case that is so popular this Christmas. I’m using your guide to French seam.💞

Very in depth tutorial, thank you. But I've heard silk and satin pillowcases are very slippery, and hence have a tendency to slip off of the pillow. Expensive pillowcase brands online usually use a zipper closure to prevent this, but I'm happy just to do an envelope but I didn't see this in the tutorial. It will be my first time sewing a pillowcase, and while I made simple bags and skirts under the guidance of my Mum as a child, I'd love to get back into sewing. I have done some hand sewing but mostly for plush toys on a small scale, so I'm excited but a little nervous to get back into machine sewing. Sadly, my parents bought me a sewing machine years ago but Mum has been using it the last couple years as her old machine needs a tune up... so it's about time I use my own sewing machine haha she had also stolen my brand new fabric scissors as hers need sharpening 😩 Do you have a tutorial on envelope pillowcases? And do most store bought pillowcases have French seams? Even cotton ones? Or is it best for satin for extra strength on the hems?

I'm a beginner. What size fabric did you start with?
@cynthiarenaemakes5 жыл бұрын
Nekita I started with a fabric that was 2 1/2 yards, but i think you could get away with just 2 yards of fabric. I’m using 100% polyester satin fabric. I purchased my fabric at JoAnn Fabric Store.

@@cynthiarenaemakes Great! I did read they fabric after I typed the question. Is polyester satin different from "100% satin"? I've been wanting a satin pillow case, but the ones in the Beauty Supply Store aren't what I want. I love this technique. I feel much more confident finally getting started making pillowcases.
@cynthiarenaemakes5 жыл бұрын
No 100% satin and 100% polyester are the exact same. The wording may change depending on which store you get your fabric from.

Hello, where did you get your clips from?
@cynthiarenaemakes4 жыл бұрын
I purchased my clips from Hancock Fabrics while it was still open, but you can get them from Amazon. Just type “sewing clips” into the search bar. They are very inexpensive
