How to Sew a Zip Fly

Want to learn a great method for sewing a zip fly?
Zip flies on trousers and skirts can be a little fiddly, but our awesome pattern cutter Serefina, who has worked for many years for couture and high street fashion designers alike, showed me a brilliant approach which is relatively easy to do and creates a neat finish.
You can also use this video tutorial for many other sewing projects, not just the Ness skirt. But if you are making Ness, it’s a good idea to watch the video in tandem with referencing the instructions, as the instructions have more a few more details included in the text.

Good points : Easiest attachment of zipper with fly I have ever encountered. No talk yet the written instructions were clear enough for me. I also greatly appreciate showing us the exact placement of the zipper from the edges when sewing it on the zip guard. This is a very detailed guide. Thank you very much. Edit : Thanks for the tips as well! Bad points : Like every one else, not a fan of the background music. Also, maybe use a differrent text color because sometimes they hard to read on the yellow background.

the contents are great, this is one of the easiest methods and most briefly explained contents I could find. But as everybody else says, please stop this music in future vids... I had to mute it as I couldn't stand it any longer. No music (maybe the sound of you explaining as well, or just the scissors cutting stuff and sewing machine), or at least some music variety would have been great.

New Look slacks 6660. does a tuggar on the fly side. Taking a look at the problem, I noticed the machine did not catch the fly's (J) first two inches. The problem seems to be the first inch below the missed stitch area where the machine did begin catching the fly. Will seam ripping the front fly seam and stitching again with a baste work or does the belly area need work?
