Okay, this is perfect. I'm making a stretchy velvet dress to go on a glitzy date with my SO because I couldn't find anything I wanted to be seen in, lol! You have so many great tips here! I have a difficult body shape to cater to (large bust that doesn't like to fit in anything, and a butt that feels the same way.) I love the way you take in dresses!! I will be using this on everything and anything. Thank so much!

Did you know: on the left side of your sewing machine (that little thing sticking out) you can use to cut your tread. There is a small knife thingy in there. My Singer has one too. It's very practical because I don't have to grab my scissor the whole time and I will make my piece "thread clean" after it's completely sewed.
@onlinekyne6 жыл бұрын
yeah! I tend to use scissors still because it's just easier to get closer to the stitch, and so I can also cut off the loose end at the beginning. I find I always forget and leave some threads hanging if I don't cut them off as I go lol!

If you put your pins in perpendicular to the edge of the fabric you can sew right over them and not have to take them out as you go! That’s just how I was taught
@natmccallion6 жыл бұрын
I was going to say the same thing!!
@onlinekyne6 жыл бұрын
I did that once and a commenter told me it was wrong hahahaha I tend to just take my time to avoid risking them hitting the needle!
@marcquellecyrus10906 жыл бұрын
onlinekyne both methods are correct but is dependent on the style of pin used. Dress makers pins (small brass or steel pins) are used perpendicular as they are extremely fine. Ball headed pins are generally thicker and best to go laterally to seam.
@marcquellecyrus10906 жыл бұрын
Also the detachable base is a common feature on most domestic machines and is referred to as “free-arm”. Generally long board/quilting machines don’t have this feature.
@ms.martiegallego88346 жыл бұрын
onlinekyne I was taught to remove the pins as sewing. Not to go over them, you can break needles, I have !!! Luv Ya !!!
