Thank you!!!! I have used this video several times now to sew packing cubes for myself and my family. My in-laws are using theirs right now on their month-long trip to Africa! Thank you so much for creating this. It is very clear, helpful, and I especially love the extra tips like reinforcing the seams with bias tape.

Thanks for this. I've been scouring KZbin this evening for an appropriate bag to use for storing sewing project supplies. I don't have a dedicated sewing room and rarely get around to making up projects straight away, needless to say that by the time I do I've misplaced something. I'll be making up a couple of these to store the "ingredients" for a project; fabric, pattern, notions/embelishments etc. May make this a little deeper or larger or both and perhaps a vinyl external pocket listing contents/planner page. Many thanks for the tutorial.

Excellent tutorial - thank you! I made a couple of these a few years ago using interfaced cotton for the body but I really like your idea of using ripstock. I also used two zippers that meet in the middle in the front. I used a heavy gauge clear vinyl for the top without any mesh, and yes it was a bit tacky to feed through the machine. If I do another one a rolling foot or a non stick foot may help with that.

How did you determine how long to cut the side piece and Tab 2. .I’d like to make a smaller one.
@Mellysews Жыл бұрын
The sides need to equal the circumference of the top at the seamline plus seam allowances.
@lindaosterberg8782 Жыл бұрын
The radius of the rounded corners makes a huge difference in hoe the sides fit!! 2" is about right.

Thank you for this video. Do you think that outdoor fabric would also work for this project? It is water resistant and comes in many prints. Or another fabric I have is an oil cloth or laminated fabric would these work?
@Mellysews5 жыл бұрын
I can't say for sure because I haven't tried either type of fabric on this specific project.

have u tried to use gift wrap tissue paper under the rip stop material to help it feed through rather than changing the tension?
@Mellysews7 жыл бұрын
No, because then you have to deal with the paper, whereas adjusting the pressure fixes the issue as the sewing machine was designed to.

Most good packing cubes have mesh so it can breathe, so I'd skip the vinyl.

I prefer the ones with vinyl and waterproof nylon like the one I made so I can use them as wet bags.
