Thank you for the tips! I promised my daughter a tigger costume and bought such nice fur!! Then realized I have no idea how to sew with it and it was WAY too expensive to wing it 😂 these tips have given me a bit more confidence. Wish me luck though! 😅

Thank you from an old gal.(72) I have all the extras you mentioned but the only ones I used were very large washers I bought years ago. I will definitely be using my applique scissors and clips. You are great!!!!! BTW I was so happy you included Sherpa cause that's what I'm using!!!!!!

I could not be happier I found you!!!!!! I am sewing with a very long faux fur for the first time and need to do it without the trial-n-error time frame so your information will be extremely helpful- And I am not a clean-as-I-go person, but I will definitely make the effort for this. Thanks so much for your channel!!

In the UK, we call the “side by side” fabric stitch a “flat lock” seam.

Thank you for the great tips and your time! I have a question... I'm making a Sherpa ghost for Halloween and want to use black Sherpa for the eyes. Obviously, small, oval shapes probably about 1.5 x 2 inches in size. The Sherpa is fraying, practically falling apart when cutting such a small piece. Is there something I can do to make this easier? Thanks so much. Gayle
@Mellysews
@Mellysews Жыл бұрын
Most of these fabrics are a fairly loose knit by necessity, so that there is room between the knit stitches that make up the fabric for the extra fibers. Therefore they're not conducive to small piecing without adding interfacing or fray check or something else to support it. That will stabilize the backing, but there's not a lot you can do about the fibers falling off the cut edges. This probably isn't the best fabric for what you're trying to do.
