Agreed! I just inserted pockets to a dress I am making. I did one using Anastasia’s method, and the other using someone else’s. Anastasia is the winner! I would like to comment on one thing though: very light fabric is used in this tutorial. Mine was slightly thicker, so I had to trim and press quite a bit to reduce the bulk. After a year of “serious sewing” 🤪 I find I still struggle with this - a video on the issue of bulk would be very much appreciated! Thank you Anastasia ❤

I used this tutorial as a basis for making my pockets but the one change I did was to make the top part of the pocket to be high enough to get to the waistline because when skirts that are cut in panels tend to sag with the weight of the objects inside it so I make my pockets big enough to fit a dog but the top part is at the waistband so that the whole thing is supported and I can fit all sorts of things inside.

It depends on how you want it to look. There are different methods for finishing necklines. Bias binding, bias facing, facing, lining etc.

Love this video. Could the pocket be under stitched (instead of edge stitched) to keep the pocket on the inside of the garment? Just wondering if edge stitching and under stitching are the same thing and achieve the same results. Lastly, inseam pockets should always be pressed toward the front, is that correct?
@SewAnastasia Жыл бұрын
Edge stitch is part of the understitch. Understitch is what we did cause we stitched down the seam allowance with the edge stitch. Yes pockets go to the front. Woohoo for pockets!
