Learn how to sew on snaps (also called press studs). These simple clothing closures are easy to sew and are a great alternative to buttons for beginner sewers. They come in different sizes and can be made of metal or plastic. Most have 4 holes but if yours has more you can still use the same method.
Hi, and welcome to Treasurie, where I aim to bring you the best sewing and craft tutorials with really easy-to-understand instructions. Thank you for watching this video. I hope you enjoy and keep up with my new sewing and craft channel. Your comments mean a lot to me, so take a second to say hello.

I can see an issue. Since your use one continuous piece of 🧵 if the thread breaks through wear and tear the press stud will eventually work loose .. perhaps your should use 4 separate 🧵...its a time consuming pain ..but more secure 😊
@treasurie
@treasurie 4 ай бұрын
You are right, but it would be very time consuming. Perhaps 2 lots? Or use thicker thread. Thanks for watching.

You dont need to mark the fabric with chalk or pencil to line the second snap up, the first snap has a hole all the way through the center, you can mark the position of the second snap through that hole with a needle.

I want to be able to accurately put the press stud in the centre of a circle. can you recommend how to place the press stud exactly ?
@treasurie
@treasurie 3 жыл бұрын
Mark the center of the circle then place the stud on top. If you do the ball side first, put some pen or chalk on the ball and press it over to the other side. Then you will have a mark where to accurately put the second one.

I have some garments with this type of fastening, but eventually the thread always comes undone and the fastener is hanging off or completely detached. How do you avoid this? Also, is there another type of concealed fastener for delicate fabrics? Thanks.
@treasurie
@treasurie 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I always use upholstery thread (Gutterman brand) for buttons and snaps. It is thicker and stronger so doesn't break like you described. Sometimes metal fittings rust so affect the thread. Also using a thicker thread means you don't have to go through the holes as many times.

Cut it in half or put a snap on the left and right edges and fold it like a tube. So one half of the snap will go on the top and the other half on the underside. Then fold it in a tube and do up the snap. Good luck on your project!
