I'm so happy I found your page, this video is amazing!! I have 10 year old daughter who has autism, I'm stressing out about her getting a period. She doesn't understand a period and She is so sensitive to way things feel. We've tried practicing with store pads and pads I've sewed for her and she freaked out, absolutely hated it. I think this idea with the one piece pad underwear might be the answer!! This is going to be first thing I sew tomorrow morning!! I thank you for sharing this! I'm hoping this will work for my child!💗🙏

All the moms thought this was amazing, few older children were on period and these panties worked great!! Ive gotten so many text messages saying Elizabeth Thank you for making and sharing this idea.. I told everyone it's from an amazing lady on youtube, and shared your page!! My daughter wasn't liking the feeling at first but with a little time and I made a pair for myself even though I had hysterectomy, so that she would see mommy's wearing her new under-roos too.. she loves them now, even though she doesn't have her period yet were definitely on the right track!! @@pattondanielle Good morning!! Definitely try this out! My daughter Stims and laughs for hours with the autism and will have little peepee accidents, This is working so well with the little tinkling accidents in the past week that when she does get her period she'll be prepared and comfortable with them on. I made myself a pair, I had hysterectomy due to cancer a few years ago so I haven't wore pad in years. I thought it would be heavy and uncomfortable feeling, but it wasn't. It was like just wearing regular panties. Also my daughter was flushing the store bought pads down the toilet when we did practice, with these "period panties" she understands there underwear and if she does peepee in them she'll just change for another pair.. now its getting her to understand that the "period panties" go in a special zipper bag so mama can wash. Also one of my friends has older daughter that uses depends or poise, she's a heavy bleeder and has lite peepee accidents at night too, I made her few underwear that were longer in length and wider in front and back, so the coverage was mostly the same as a depend and she texted me this morning saying they worked great. I did make hers thicker than others. Also I took my daughter out and let her pick out the topper fabric, that helped alot too!! I hope you try these. I'm soo beyond happy I did because being prepared and having good options available is great!! 💗

I love that it’s not an extra piece to wash! By the way, getting rid of caffeine can help get rid of or at least minimize leakage. Occasional indulgence after your body adjusts might still be OK, you just have to experiment with that.

Bamboo Terry cloth is also great to use just don't use too many layers unless you have a big problem with leakage at night. I also use my serger to sew really close to the edges. There is nothing like adding 11 inches or bigger pad when you get old. And yes 1 1inches because I know there are a lot of women that have both front and back issues when you are driving down the interstate and your stomach goes nuts on you.

Thanks for this great video- I am going to line my panties to catch bladder leaks (I'm over 65 so when I sneeze or cough, that happens sometimes!) I ordered Zorb fabric which is supposed to be the most absorbent padding available- we shall see. THis is SO much more economical than buying the very expensive incontinence panties and I can use my most comfy panties for them. I have a couple of small suggestions that might be helpful: 1. To avoid having to sew on the edge of the absorbent pad, you can cut a larger seam allowance, then trim it off after sewing it together. ALso, to avoid any bunching of the curvy part of the pad when you turn it inside out, you can cut out some notches in the curve before turning it to help it lay flat.

@billettescrafts2 жыл бұрын
Good question. There’s a lot of different ways to store. My preference is You can put them in an open wetbag ( not zipped, it needs to breath) and leave until day 4/5 and then soak them for a day and the. Wash. If you store them airtight, that’s when you’ll get a smell or musty odor. Otherswise, I find they’re isn’t an odor ✌🏻

@shirleydrake16023 жыл бұрын
Are you sure a double layer or cloth is going to be enough for a core? I’m thinking at least four layers thick. Could you test it with some water to see how much it takes? I am also actively seeking a pattern for making underwear for men with incontinence pads sewn in. The disposable pads for men are awful. They are really thick and my 71 year old husband seems incapable of learning to deal with a sticky side and exactly where to put it. Also his briefs are tight fitting in the morning and huge in the afternoon! The pad has to fit close to the body or they are useless. I find long legged briefs are better as far as staying close to the body all day. It dawns on me, I need to design or find something to help him (and millions of other men) have something discreet and effective to deal with mild incontinence. This will only work with mild incontinence. Complete incontinence can be several ounces and as you say will require something very absorbent.

I made a pattern for a mens pad in a similar way to this video to match the underwear and based on the disposable shield type. I used old towels, 2 layer and 4 layer versions. I did sew some elastic in the edges to create a cup shape and they rely on good fitting briefs to stay in place. The wearer is delighted with them. After watching though i may try sewing them to the briefs so i dont need the faff of the elastic. Thanks for a great inspirational video xxx

Does anyone happen to know what is better for incontinence pads than zorb? I made several of these with cotton toppers, adding the crescent-shaped cutouts of zorb core as additional absorbency. The lady I made them for said that (the 2 layers) is not absorbent enough, nor dry enough for overnight or long trips, etc. I've never used bamboo fleece and so I don't know if it would be better at wicking away moisture than zorb. Any suggestions?

@rourkuscreations2 жыл бұрын
Granny Gran. I am still learning however I have learnt that zorb is a great absorber but under pressure will release fluid i.e. sitting on it. A resolutoon is to use bamboo fleece on either side. I plan to buy both and have a go with this combination.
@return2basics242 Жыл бұрын
@onthesideofright9755 - The PUL is the waterproof material for the bottom layer, so nothing sneaks away to surprise and embarrass you. (If I'm not mistaken, ZORB is essentially the same thing as PUL?) The middle should be either flannel or heavy organic bamboo fleece that are several layers thick. (Flannel for light needs and fleece for heavy needs) And the top layer is cotton, like t-shirt material, which is the pretty, decorative fabric that you picked out.

My mom had an aneurysm and now has some urine and fecal incontinence. She uses depends. I am wondering if I could make some lined panties in front and back. What was the leak proof fabric again?
